“Beautiful Honeymoon & Wedding”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 January 2014 via mobile

We researched a number of hotels on T.A and chose Long Beach. So pleased we did. The east side of the island has a welcomed breeze, we went in late November and it gets very hot.

The hotel was perfect. We were looking for somewhere that can offer luxury, privacy but not so remote that there was nothing to do. Long beach is a great choice for those who want the best of all worlds.

The beach is perfect, private not so busy and plenty of sun loungers. We opted for a beach front room, step outside our terrace (we were on ground floor) and your garden is the beach and sea front - paradise!

Service by all the team at long beach was outstanding, nothing was too much trouble. The people certainly make the hotel and i cant give them enough credit.

Choice for food is brilliant, we went all inclusive which I would recommend. My husband loved the sea food and as a vegeterian I had no problems which choice. I would advise to pre book a table at restaurants the day before you want to go as they do get booked up if you are trying to book same day.

We had our wedding their which was organised by Nadia who was excellent. She organised everything from flowers to ensuring our wedding attire was pressed. We opted for a spa package too which proved to be good value.

The bar in the evenings is good fun, great cocktails, and light entertainment provided by a band which is nice after dinner.

If your are reading this looking for a honeymoon location that offers great rooms, good food, beautiful beach and excellent service this is the place for you.

Thanks to long beach for making our stay so special

Three times a day room service and cleaning. Great rooms, great fitness and sports center, great beach, great food and super service. Simply a very pleasant experience that can be recommended strongly to everyone. The only downside is that you are somewhat isolated in the resort, as there are not many attractions in the nearby area that you can go off to. You do have the Ile de Cerfs, and the Le Touessrok golf course which is just great.

We stayed at Long Beach for 10 nights in August and had a fantastic time. When we arrived we were advised that there was a wedding taking place, this turned out to be a very large wedding which took over the whole resort. After complaining we were given the option of moving to sister hotel, however, we couldn't face packing and unpacking! Even though the hotel and management tried to limit the impact of wedding on other guests in truth they shouldn't have taken bookings or at least they should have given us option of moving before we had unpacked.

Wedding aside this is a fabulous resort and the staff and service are exceptional. The restaurants are all of a high quality with Chop Sticks and Tides being our favourites.

The whole management team are very accessible to guests and they make a point of talking to guests and rembering little details of likes and dislikes.

With regards to rooms we booked a beach front and were expecting exactly that. However, the first room we were given was sea view at best I.e. from one corner of balcony. We eventually changed rooms after wedding guests had left to a true beach front which we were very happy with. The rooms were very modern and spacious with all mod cons. However, if you want beach front be sure to state this explicitly, especially as you pay a premium for it.

We booked all inclusive which for us was good value, however, note to management ice creams should be included especially as its a family resort.

There were a good range of activities and a very good kids club, our little boy especially liked the climbing wall and underwater sea walking.

The spa was good but not exceptional and would benefit from a relaxation room.

In summary I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and hope to visit again in the future

Room Tip: Some beach front rooms are at best sea view, be explicit in your requirements when booking. Intercon...

We honeymooned at Long Beach in the last 2 weeks of October 2013. We were impressed with the hotel and location - it definitely fitted our bill as somewhere to relax in the sunshine, eat nice food, drink cocktails and generally chill out for 10 days.

The room we had (superior with sea view) was LOVELY. Modern, massive comfortable bed, lovely clean and spacious bathroom and a nice patio area which had views of the sea through the sand dunes. We had one of the furthest rooms from the main function area which was totally fine for us, as it allowed us to walk off dinner before turning in for the night! We quickly learnt to ensure we had all the stuff we needed with us though, as it was a slight trek back if you needed to pop back for anything! We loved the fact though that we were so close to the beach which was practically deserted, as the majority of the guests hoarded round the pool (when we were there seemed to be a LOT of large groups of French families...it didn't bother us, but perhaps just check French school holiday dates if you are looking for a slightly more child-free honeymoon here!).

The service did actually really stand out for us - the staff were genuinely helpful, polite and went out of their way to help...our best experiences were in the Italian, Sapori. On our last day, we had a good chat with one of the senior catering staff there and one of his new start trainees who wanted to know what they and their team could do to improve...working in customer services I was pretty impressed by this. Our only disappointment was the Japanese/Italian fusion (a slightly weird but wonderful combo!) - this is marketed using the phrase "Michelin star"...which is actually a really clever play on words as it's the chef who planned the menu who has one of these, rather than the waiting staff or the restaurant itself! This was the restaurant you had to pay supplements for - we booked for a Sunday night and there were only 2 staff on - there was only us, one other couple and a large French family group eating there and I almost got up and cleared away the plates myself! We had to laugh about it really though as it was the only experience we could fault there.

Other things we liked about the hotel were the spa...we had a fabulous Hammam massage and were seriously tempted to get further treatments. The pizzas in the pool bar were delicious and we were pleasantly surprised and really did enjoy the entertainment in the main bar - the in-house singers and band were REALLY good, and the dance troup they brought in were talented and quite clever...organised entertainment is something we've usually taken great delight in cringing about in other places we have stayed, but this was clearly what it is meant to be like!

Overall, we were really pleased - this was the honeymoon we were after and a lovely experience.

i've had the pleasure of spending a week at Long Beach Mauritius. The hotel facilities are excellent but the wi-fi was terrible, almost non-existent. Complaining to reception didn't help as they simply gave you another voucher, which also didn't work 99% of the time. Also, as a Muslim, i would have liked Halaal food to be prominently labelled with the necessary certification, but this wasn't the case. If you asked the staff, they simply said all the food was Halaal. The rooms were nice but i cannot understand why there is no door which can be closed between the room and the toilet/ bathroom. When i complained, this problem was resolved with a curtain.

Room Tip: if you have kids, request a ground floor as i found it cumbersome to carry the baby pram up and down...

We have just spent a lovely 2 week family holiday at Long Beach Hotel with our children and grandchildren. It is spread out over a large area, so there is a long beach available which makes the beaches look uncrowded. Two pools situated centrally with activities going on all day. A kids club and spa are present as well. Food is excellent with many different restaurants to choose from. Maybe a full-board rather than half would be a good deal. Entertainment is chic and the resident band is excellent. Choose a room close to the reception, or else a long walk is involved. For people with physical infirmities one must request a room close to reception. They have a thing about not setting spoons on the tables for breakfast and dinner. This was irritating. WiFi was free and reception was strong in our room. A good rest.

Room Tip: Choose a sea facing room close to reception

It was with some interest rather than trepidation that I returned to Long Beach for a third successive year in view of the departure of the motivator and mentor Nicolas De Chalain to head office but I can report that new GM Vladimir Scanu - an old friend from Sugar Beach - has not only picked up the baton but has run with it and improved this magnificent and still developing hotel on Paradise Island. The key, however, remains the staff, from the youngsters in the breakfast room(still learning but with a smile) to the senior executives who know how to treat customers, whoever they are. You accept that, with such a diverse clientele, some will complain and while I open my eyes in astonishment at some of the remarks and complaints, the hotel staff take it all in their stride, help and move on. Complaints happen, particularly in a resort when it rains( and boy can it rain when the heavens set their minds to it in the Indian Ocean) and disappointment overwhelms all other senses. I had only one bad night when it hosed down while having dinner at the seafront restaurant when waiters had to use umbrellas and walk around in twos while the customers huddled under the available shelter.
The other restaurants are almost worth a review on their own from the still wonderful buffet with such a wide and diverse selection(and still the best puddings) to the outstanding Japanese restaurant where the price (unfortunately) matches the serious quality of the food. The Chinese restaurant is relaxed, friendly and very good while I look forward to the changes in the Italian restaurant with the new chef whose initial samples were mouth watering. I even had the new GM, himself a former chef, cook me dinner one night and if he ever decides to switch hotel management to restaurant ownership count me in on his opening night wherever it is!
The best test of a hotel is when you are poorly and I had the misfortune to suffer with a problem with my mouth. Doctor and nurse on site and a visit to local dentist arranged without problems. The hotel itself continues to mature with the many, many plants brought in by Nicolas De Chalain still growing and softening the harsh grey outlines of the buildings while the several pools, silver sand of the beaches, the sunshine(most days), the general ambiance, the bar, which is more like a private members club, and most of all the local people make this a magical place.
From what I was told in my two weeks at the hotel, more changes are in the pipeline to continue the improvements but I still maintain that the other side of the islands offer a greater variety of entertainment and, in particular , restaurants off-site, but that is not a problem for Long Beach and their choice of restaurants ensure that there is a wide choice for their customers. Mr Scanu is also a man with a good eye and, more important, a good ear. He listens to the bad as well as the good and , more importantly, is prepared to do something about it.
Will I be back ? - you can bet your bottom dollar(or rupee) on it and I expect this wonderful hotel to continue to improve beyond its five stars.
PS I used WiFi for my work every day and only suffered when the weather intervened!

Room Tip: Anywhere on the beach front. All rooms overlook the ocean.
