We have just returned from a two week holiday and have almost nothing but praise for this hotel.

We travelled with our three and half year old daughter, and the staff could not do enough to assist us in making sure that she was well fed and happy. They were always friendly, and never too busy to make a fuss of her and make sure that all our needs were catered for. All the staff seemed to know her name!! She had a special meal prepared for her every night, since she is very fussy and would not eat the food that was on offer. A member of staff would discuss it each morning to ensure that she had something that she would eat each night.

Food served was excellent, in particular when the holel was not filled to capacity, and the evening meal was a la carte. Buffet meals afforded a good selection, but were not quite as good as the a la carte. The lunchtime menu, had a daily special, along with what was offered each day and this was for the most part of high quality (bar the calamari).

The activities on offer, were expensive for they what were, however this reflects the general high price of everything in Mauritius.

In all a lovely, relaxing holiday, which is excellent for families and couples.

We went all inclusive, and for us this was great as we wanted nothing more than to eat good food and have an unlimited supply of drinks. We were not bothered by being restricted to local brands only, although this may be a problem for others.

The buildjng beautifully complements the setting, with the beach bar in the middle of the swimming pool. The beach, although rocky, afforded lots of exciting rock pools for our daughter to explore and collect shells and so on. Additionally walk a little down from the hotel and you are able to swim from the beach away from the rocks.

The entertainment in the evening, was a little limited with set background music which was not easily changed, although staff did try to help with this aspect too. There is a music duo that appears most nights, and although they play with enthusiasm and our daughter loved them, the same double act could become wearing night after night.

Me and my friend arrived full of great expectations having spent a lot of money on what we thought was going to be a great holiday in a 4 star plus hotel ...
Well, we were very disappointed. The hotel was nice and clean and the beach was lovely.
However, food ... the lunch time menu was very poor!
AND ... YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR THE COFFEE IN THE ROOM!!! This is usually free even in the cheapest of the hotels!!!
All inclusive means that you can have only the local drinks, don't even try to ask for Martini or Baileys.
Also you will find that the staff will put on your bill extra drinks and give you the bill to sign pointing out that it's all zero, nothing to pay. And this was on the second day of our stay!
The reception will not make a simple local call to your travel representative to help you book a trip, they will ask you to call from your room and then charge you or tell you to use your mobile!
Not the staff's fault I know but how disappointing.
The entertainment is not much, the same guy singing every evening and even that stops at 23.00 pm!
Even during weekends.
The spa treatments were nice but expensive.
All in all not worth the money you pay for staying there.

The Palmeraie was a good little boutique hotel....clever design and friendly staff

Loved the colour of water, the cruise ship style band and the sleepy man at the gate that seemed to never recognise us despite a vivid car. any place that serves a pizza, caprese saled and a cold rose pool side has got to be good.

being a small resort, also loved seeing the antics of the other guests including the cololnel.

didnt rate the spa, was noisy...would give it a miss.

thought not just the hotel but the whole island is over priced, especially in high season. suspect they will have to come down in prce to stay competitive, the customers queue on arrival was a bit of a yawn also.

staff were friendly and the ornaments made of bread at breakfast also great.

do watch out for other guests though, one gentleman moved by towel from a sun lounge with a pair of dirty flip flops while i watched (he didnt know)

Tip, hire a car, best to have transport around the island. drive to blue lagoon for a snorkel and eat at bouganvillea.

love in travel,

We recently returned from La Palmeraie and we had a fabulous stay. On arrival we were greeted by a very friendly member of staff and it continued from there on. The staff were fantastic and really go out of their way to help you. In fact, everyone we encountered in Mauritius was extremely welcoming.

We decided to treat ourselves and upgrade to a beachfront room which had just been updated. It was very comfortable and had a fantastic balcony where you could sit by the ocean with a nice glass of wine - stunning. There is a very long stretch of beach which was never very busy and perfect for a late afternoon stroll - exactly what we were looking for when we decided to go to Mauritius!

Food wise it was superb. We got chatting to a member of staff who said they have recently employed a Michelin star chef to look after the 2 restaurants and we certainly could not fault it. We decided to opt for the all inclusive as it was only a little bit more and well worth it. Although the hotel drink prices were fair, Mauritius is quite expensive so we made our money back easily.

Activity wise there was a range of water sports included in the cost and the hotel organised for us to go diving for the day with the PADI dive school which is linked to the hotel next door. All very professional. I would recommend a day trip to Pamplemousses and to the Black Gorge National Park if you fancy a day out of the hotel. Again, the reception staff were happy to organised this for us at a reasonable cost.

Generally it was mostly couples at the hotel but they did have a kid’s club if you are a family. There is also a shallow pool for them to play in as well.

Overall, it is a very intimate hotel where you will be looked after - perfect for a honeymoon or romantic getaway. Highly recommended.
