“Is it time to go back yet?”
Reviewed 3 May 2013 for a stay in April 2013

I was tempted to keep this find a secret but I mustn't be selfish, plus I was too excited about recalling our holiday details not to share!

We visited the Bali apartment within the Beach Apartment complex of Flic-en-Flac for a week from the 13th April 2013. This was our second visit to Flic-en-Flac having stayed with our Mauritian family several years before. The location is absolutely perfect, a two minute walk from the beach, restaurants and bars.

Jimmy, the owner, met us on our arrival and showed us around our well-equipped accommodation. The apartment is set over three floors, so we (parents, brother and boyfriend) all had plenty of space. Very clean throughout, with plenty of towels, washing machine, board games and plenty of snorkelling gear.

Now, enough about the inside, who goes to Mauritius to sit inside?! The exterior of the apartment was fantastic, a seating area leading from the kitchen, perfect for BBQs. Comfy sun chairs out the front, and a gorgeous swimming pool 5 skips away. The apartment is set within an immaculately cared for garden, with palm trees providing cooling shade as you laze around the pool. During our stay few other apartments were occupied so we pretty much had the pool to ourselves.

My Mauritian-born Dad wanted some good home-cooking during our stay so the lovely maid, Vima prepared us a lamb curry that was very much enjoyed.

I really can't speak highly enough of the Bali apartment, we all felt so at home there. So much so that after a couple of days into our second week stay in the north of the island we decided to go back, we gave up our accommodation in Pereybere to return to Flic-en-Flac! Sadly, Bali was rented out, but Jimmy kindly put us in contact with another owner in the complex and we were able to stay the in opposite (not so well equipped/furnished but absolutely fine for our needs) apartment!

I need to thank Jimmy for putting us in touch with Gerald, we were able to go swimming with wild dolphins one morning and it was the most amazing thing I've ever done. The driver of our boat told us exactly when to jump into the water, and a pod of dolphins were swimming under us every time. Would recommend the excursion to anyone lucky enough to be visiting the area. My brother is keen diver and Jimmy was also able to give him details of the best people to go diving with.

Thank you also Jimmy for all your help with organising our return to Flic-en-Flac for our second week, getting some extra time there really did make our second week. There is something for everyone in the area, from the beautiful stretch of beach, amazing for snorkelling and diving, to the Mauritian street food, cocktails and variety of restaurants. The Beach Shack became a favourite for my partner and I, and is the closest restaurant to the Beach Apartments.

In summary, although I think I've made it fairly clear, we can not wait to go back. I would not hesitate to recommend this apartment to anyone. (But don't all book at once, save us a week or two!)

“Great, superb & relaxing stay at Bali Villa”

I stayed at Bali Villa for 20 nights, arriving on 14.12.12 & leaving on 03.01.13. I was accompanied by my daughter, son-in-law, and two grand-children aged 8 & 10 years. Without exception, we loved it there & enjoyed every minute of our stay. The owners, Jimmy & Dominique Hope, were both very friendly & helpful. They always went that extra mile to make sure all our needs were properly met to make our stay as pleasant as possible. The same was applicable to the maid Vima who came twice a week & was also excellent at her job.Little extras such as mosquito's plugs in all bedrooms, are the extra special touches that make Bali Villa stands out. The Safety security Box, Wi-fi & BBQ were very handy. The villa certainly lived up to all the details outlined by holiday lettings & the owner.
The Villa has all the utensils, facilities & utilities of a top grade dwelling..It is a 3 storey Villa with 3 bedrooms: 2 with double beds & one with twin beds. The lounge is on the top floor with the bedroom with twin beds. It is well furnished & comprised satellite tv, dvd player & a sofa-bed which can sleep 2 more guests. Each bedroom & the lounge are fully air-conditioned & have their own balconies.
Bali Villa is located in the beautiful Beach Apartment Complex which is just behind Hotel Manisa. The shared swimming pool is only a dozen steps from the front door & balcony, and it has a shallow end & jacuzzi. It is beautiful & kept exceptionally clean. There is 24 hour security guard on duty. The Villa is in an excellent location as it is only a few minutes walk (about 5 minutes) to the nearest restaurants, bus stops & the beautiful Flic en Flac sandy beach but away from the main coastal road &traffic. The supermarket, car rental places, tour operators & tourist's agency are 10-15 minutes' walk from the Villa. In essence, we had a great, superb & relaxing stay at Bali Villa & I would not hesitate to recommend it to family & friends. Needless to say, I would definitely go back there..

“Really good value for money”
Reviewed 9 December 2012 for a stay in November 2012

Five star hotels on Mauritius is something I can't afford, and would probably not put my money on even if I had it. Bali was good for our needs and well located even if a sea view would of course be even nicer. The fact that it is a three storey apartment always makes it a little unpractical to go all the way up to watch TV, to the second floor to go to the toilet and so on. With smaller children I think those stairs can be a minor issue.
We met the maid more than the owners, she was very sweet and hard-working, a big plus to her!
I think there are different "cultures" on how a bed should be in different corners of the world; beds at Bali are very hard from a Nordic point of view and I didn't get used to them during our two weeks stay.
Internet access we had about half of the time; it is a fixed amount of time/megas you get and I must have been sending too big files attached with my e-mails as it popped up a screen saying that now your internet time is up.
The pool was nice, it doesn't need to be bigger than that. It did get pretty crowded though and although our 8-year old boy trained his swimming carefully in the pool, there were still noisy adult men jumping into the pool very close to him. Not very nice of them I think.
The guards were all very kind older men but as a real precaution it doesn't really work; it is a big area with only low walls around it and these guards sit in one corner of the area and hardly ever move from that spot. They didn't do anything about a very loud party either one night (fortunately it was only one night).
All in all we were still satisfied with our stay here and would not hesitate to tell my friends about this apartment if they would like to visit Mauritius on a cost "normal" people can afford.

“Excellent hospitality and holiday”
Reviewed 2 November 2012 for a stay in October 2012

Jimmy Hope was very accommodating from our first inquiry on the internet and continued to be so during our stay. The apartment is tastefully decorated and very clean, and the maid service provided was an extra bonus. Jimmy and his wife Dominique, were always very helpful, especially with tours and activities and strived to get us the best deals and prices. The apartment is well situated, not being on the main road, but close to the beach and other facilities. I would definitely recommend this apartment to my family and friends and we plan to return in the next 2 years. We still can't stop talking about our wonderful stay in Mauritius and Flic-en-Flac.

“Great location and great value”
Reviewed 13 October 2012 for a stay in August 2012

We stayed at this well-located and spacious apartment in August this year and we found it was a great base for exploring the island. The apartment is actually a 3-storey house which meant we had loads of space, the beach in Flic en Flac is only 100 yards away and it is very beautiful. It is true that this part of Mauritius gets the most sun in the winter when we were there and so aside from cloudy/rainy periods mainly in the morning, it was hot and sunny every day. The owners Jimmy and Dominique are incredibly helpful and the maid also works hard to keep everything clean and tidy. We really enjoyed our stay.

“Homely accomodation in a good location”

We stayed here for around 15 days. Jimmy and Dominique (the owners) were very helpful and came with many suggestions of what to see. The property is well kept and stylishly decorated. Everything that you could need is provided (including beach toys, mosquito repellent tablets, etc.). The maid is excellent and cooked us some fabulous dinners (at an additional cost). The shared pool is great for kids and gets the sun most of the day. The lovely beach of Flic en Flac is only a few minutes away. There are several restaurants near by (which are ok, but nothing special) and there is a supermarket around 10 minutes away. We had a great time here and would recommend this property.
