“Excellent stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 August 2014

My sister and I stayed here in April for a few days and all I can say is WOW! The room and staff (not to mention the beauty of Mauritius itself) exceeded our expectations and we had a fantastic vacation because of that.
Patrick - the manager - was the perfect hostess and wanted to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Because we are about a 15 minute walk to the beach/restaurants he was MORE THAN HAPPY to accommodate us with his shuttle to wherever we wanted to go. He would arrange to pick us up either by us calling him or by meeting him at a certain spot at a time we specified. My sister and I did the walk down to the water, which was nice because you see more of Mauritius and wasn't too long of a walk. We also used his shuttle to the beach which is good for getting there fast.
The view is amazing at this hotel, the breakfast so peaceful and tropical, and the pool at our disposal to use if we so desired. To wake up every morning and step on the balcony and hear many, many birds chirping, the breeze swaying the tree leaves, and Patrick cooking food downstairs on the patio area was the perfect start of every day. Breakfast had variations every morning and was just perfect with my cup of tea (or coffee if desired).
The room has a little kitchenette with a fridge, stovetop, sink, but we really only used the fridge for leftovers/water.
As far as restaurants go the shuttle is really the only way to get to them quickly. We also visited the Safari Adventures park and definitely recommend people visiting that park. Patrick was more than happy dropping us off when it opened and picking us up later. We even decided to stay longer than planned and the park staff were happy to call our hotel driver to schedule a later pickup for us.

We had heard that taxis try to over charge you at the airport so either arrange with patrick for a pickup and drop off or haggle them down. We haggled were able to get a Taxi for 30 euros instead of the 50 they were insisting we pay.

An example of just how personal and amazing Patrick is was one day I felt sick so we called and asked him to pick us up and on the drive back he stopped and bought a coconut and pineapple fruits at a stand for each of us and refused to be reimbursed. Top notch care that can only be found at smaller scale hotels such as this one.

Don't forget to go to the rooftop at sunset or sunrise and get a even better view of the beautiful Mauritius island.

Staff is very gentle and the hotel is in a quiet place. The room was spacious and clean. Anyway, the beach is not very close to the hotel, you need a car or you can use their bicycles (there is a bit of slope to cope with, not for all people): we had a car. Very good breakfast and exceptional overall quality/price. I defenitely recommend this hotel.

Want to explore Mauritius? Visit lots of different beaches? Eat where the local people eat? Sleep in a comfortable room without paying for hotel facilities you will never use? If that’s the case this may be your best option for accommodation. But if you want your hotel right by the beach you may well be better off somewhere else.
I’ve stayed here for 6 weeks in 2013, and already have reviewed this hotel. Now I’ve stayed for another month in 2014; so I’m concentrating on things that have changed since my last visit.
Patrick remains a brilliant manager, and does far more for the guests but I would expect in a much more expensive resort. Because the place is small, it all feels very personal. The warm greeting we received on arrival and departure makes it feel very much as if we are just part of the family.
The location is very good for exploring the island with a car. I’ve only marked it down because the hotel isn’t actually on the beach. Most of the West and South Coast can be reached inside an hour. And with the new motorway it’s now easy to drive to the north of the island in an hour or so. Only the East Coast is a rather longer drive.
Sleep quality was absolutely perfect. The bed was very comfortable, as good as our home bed; and we didn’t hear any noise at all during our stay – and I’m a light sleeper so that’s high praise indeed.
Rooms are excellent, and include everything you need to prepare simple meals. However do note you will need to bring your own tin opener and bottle opener, those were the only things we really needed that weren’t supplied.
They now serve a very good breakfast. It’s really useful on that first morning. When we were there they supplied fresh fruit, fruit juice, excellent coffee, omelette, sausages, croissants etc. But I really only like a light breakfast, I also found the dining area was rather hot and enclosed; so afterwards `I much preferred to eat a light self-catered breakfast on our balcony with a great view of the island.
This time Laundry nearly always took 2 days, on one occasion 3 days; the price remained very reasonable.
The roof terrace now has very comfortable sunbeds. We never used it during the daytime, but it’s a brilliant place for observing the southern night sky at night. Unfortunately they have installed a solar LED light which can’t be switched off; they were a bit of a nuisance, but we don’t feel they had much effect on what we saw. The very clear air, with little light pollution (except for this one LED light) make for a fantastic view of the night sky. Most of the more expensive hotels would have more lights and nowhere as good for seeing the stars
Patrick organised car hire for us. The price seemed very fair, and the car was almost new. The company he used provided the correct paperwork. However most of the cars supplied do not have a parcel shelf; I regard this as very important to ensure stuff left in the car is not on open display (I may be rather paranoid about this as I come from the UK where car crime is a serious problem). They did manage to sort out a parcel shelf by 9am the next morning. If you regard this as important, make sure you stress this to Patrick. Incidentally the guy (Vicky) who organised our car also does excursions. We talked to him several times and think he would be very good at showing customers around the island.
We had a couple of minor problems with the room. We did tell Patrick about them and each problem was resolved very quickly indeed - they replaced a whole set of sockets in the kitchen which weren’t working properly. So if you find anything wrong, you can be sure they’ll put it right for you.
For those with mobility problems ground floor rooms are reached from the car park without steps. First floor rooms do have a back access onto the street without steps, but there are steps down to the swimming pool and dining area. Naturally the top floor does require climbing at least one flight of steps. A good handrail has been installed on almost all the steps; however there just 4 steps which have no handrail, I found a hand on the wall made me feel perfectly safe on these steps.
I do reckon this place is outstanding value for money. Comfortable, budget accommodation is hard to find on Mauritius. Stay here, hire a car, you should have a brilliant holiday without breaking the bank.

I stayed in WCW for 5 nights in March with my parents. Nice, new, clean apartments located about 10 minutes from beach& shops, great location if you want to stay away from the busy/ noisy areas and roads but still be close to the beach Excellent view from the roof overlooking sea& hills. Bike rental& car lifts included in your stay. Our stay was fantastic and I can only recommend this place.
My main thank you for a great holiday must go to the manager of the place Patrick and his beautiful wife. Patrick is always ready to help, organise or sort out anything you need help with.

Very clean accommodation, newish. Took room for 3 persons, one double bed and one narrow single in hall. not ideal but ok for the 2 nights we had in transit. The manager was excellent and couldn't do enough to help and make us comfortable. They offer a shuttle down to the flic en flac beach area. It is about a 25 minute walk to the beach front. There are no restaurants near to the accommodation you need to walk and ask to be driven down to flic en flac. Quiet suburban area.

Our recent stay for 4 days in October 2013 could not have been better. The manager and his wife could not have been better hosts! The personal attention and help we received from them was a major surprise. The room (2 bed suite) was immaculate and tastefully designed. It is a bit far from the beach area but we were driven to town at any time we requested at no charge.
