“If you want to see paradise...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 October 2013

You should definitely visit this amazing place. You will feel yourself cherished, relaxed, and disconnected from entire universe. You will be surrounded by beautiful flowers, nice and warm breeze, magnificent ocean and ….birds' songs:) The hotel is relatively small and consists of about 60 villas, very private guest villas which are well isolated from each other (each villa has s pretty little terrace, a little private pool and it is surrounded by lots of greens and flowers …). There is a pretty long distance between the villas, and you are never being disturbed by music, neigboours or any other external noise. At the same time you feel safe as there are security staff patrolling the hotel's territory.
We went there in september 2013 for 1 week . The arrival and reception was very personalized, and in general, the attitude to all guests in this hotel is very individual (they greet you by your name, they know the number of your villa, your preferences etc). You are introduced to all Managers and key service people, and they are always ready to address all your needs…All 24 hours. The service in excellent.
Villas are elegantly decorated in oriental and creole style, and very spacious. There is a Nespresso machine and good selection of tea and coffee in the villa.

The selection of food for breakfast (main restaurant - Coast2Coast is excellent, and You can always order your breakfast to be served in the villa at no additional price. The dinner also can be ordered in the villa, and you pay only 15% for the service (we liked the food in the Coast restaurant, and had dinner always there).
The hotel has a library, you can borrow books (there are lots in different languages) and DVDs.
The beech is very beautiful, clean and it looks wild and native… A superb view at sunset.
AS for leisures, it is possible to practice kayaking, pedal, and water skying. The hotel staff is trained to assist and coach you doing all these (no additional pay).
There is gym, and a tennis court at the hotel premises.

Our stay at the MARADIVA was almost perfect, but was marred by the fact our initial room had a few 'issues' which included brown water from bath tap, no internet and some dubious air con plus no guard around the plunge pool to protect our baby from inadvertadly crawling in. However, the staff literally did evrything they could to rectify the situation, which included changing our room and giving us access to the Presedential Villa, so our baby could swim in warmer water - relatively safely. Other than this, the service, villa ambience, gardens, beach location etc were excellent. The staff took wonderful care of our baby, who was served a 'bespoke' menu for 8 nights, 3 meals a day, at no cost - and bang on time every day - and the staff treated him like a family member - which he loved! :) The CILANTRO restauants were excellent, but COAST to COAST does need to be improved and updated and to be honest the hotel itself and furnishings could do with some updating. But overall, very very good.

Room Tip: just make sure you check all aspects of the room, BEFORE you unpack.

More of a review yet to follow but what stood out was the service as being 5 star all the way. Even if small preferences are not met first time they certainly will the next time. It was a shame about the seasonal weather September can be somewhat warm at best.

Resort is gorgeous - definitely picture postcard, white tropical beach.

Beach villa 517 was excellent.

Facilities fantastic.

Staff friendly - quality of service and food top notch. Chef even cooked us our dorada that we caught whilst out fishing 3 hours earlier (really appreciated the upgraded boat that Maradiva arranged).

Particularly enjoyed the Tepinyaki experience restaurant.

Spa is superb.

Had a problem with the villa plumbing but Resort Manager Kamal personally ensured this was sorted quickly.

Mauritius is a gorgeous island and it's well worth getting out and exploring it.

Highly recommend Maradiva.

Room Tip: Beach villa added a little bit more to the experience. Room 517 is at far end of resort so away from...

My wife and I recently stated at Maradiva Villas as part of our honeymoon. Given the cost of our honeymoon package we had high expectations. In the majority of cases these were met and frequently exceeded. The resort itself is beautifully maintained. Our garden villa was amazing (especially the bathroom) and while it lacked a view it was very private. The gardens were immaculate and the facilities well kept. While the quality of the food at Coast restaurant was variable, both options at Cilantro were excellent. While the facilities were great it was the friendly staff and quality service which made our stay. The only disappointment we had was the cost of drinks both in the minibar and at all the restaurants. Apart from that we had nothing but praise.

This is a late review....My wife and I stayed at this hotel in June'12 on our honeymoon.
Resort: Beautiful. Very clean. Lots of walking between reception, restaurants etc...however there are ample golf carts to help you move around so not really an issue
Pool - Good size and clean. In june water was cool
Beach - remote and isolated-clean! Deck chairs very well spaced apart
Restaurants - AMAZING! al la carte food (even breakfast) best part of holiday
Staff - Very helpful and polite

This is a great resort for couples! Would visit again!

By far the best Hotel we have stayed in!!!

We went on our honeymoon on the first week in September and did not want to come home.

We booked through Travel Counsellors – excellent service.

Straight from our arrival at the hotel we were made to relax and each and every staff could not have been more helpful. Oliver on the beach was by far the most helpful and kind to us. Putting out towels on the beach beds and even told us about the horse racing 

We arrived with a warm reception from the hotel and told to sit down while our luggage was taken to the room.

We then were taken around the hotel (in a golf buggy) and given a full explanation of where everything is etc. Very good tip for any other hotels who read this!

The room was amazing, we had 2 swans made from towels and rose petals upon arrival. I do not need to go into each section of the room, as the pictures on the website are exactly how they look.

The room we were in had a BOSE system outside, so all you needed was to bring an IPOD to plug in.

Each day we were given cakes – very nice touch.

The three restaurants were brilliant with a large choice of meals to choose from.
Particularly the Teppanyaki restaurant was by far our favourite.

If you do not wish to eat down at the main restaurant in the morning you can also call up for room service to bring it to your room.

We went on 2 trips – swimming with dolphins & horse racing.

Swimming with dolphins was amazing and nothing can describe it.
You get taken to were the dolphins are ‘sleeping’ by a speed boat and provided with flippers and snorkel. You then have to chase for the dolphins to swim with them.
Amazing experience and would do it again, even though I am scared of deep water.
Cost – 1500 rupees pp.

The horse racing is held every Saturday from around March – October.
I am a keen horse racing fan and the day was absolutely amazing.
We booked on the VIP package at a cost of 6500 rupees. Seems a lot, however very much worth the trip.
You get picked up from the hotel with a private taxi around 11am, and driven to the races.
Entry into the races.
You are warmly greeted by Jacqu and shown around.
You have access to a private box overlooking the finishing line and whole track.
Access to the parade ring.
Free bar – yes free. We were sure to take advantage of this bar as it seemed to help with the winnings.
Lunch/ snacks.
There is a tote in the box.
Private taxi back to your hotel.

We also had included in our Honeymoon package a Champagne breakfast, dinner under the tent and massage for 2 – all these were amazing too.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

I would say though that the Hotel had a lot of couples and not many families – which we preferred.

Only downside to the hotel was the cost of alcohol, roughly £40.00 for a bottle of wine is extremely expensive, compared to £10 a bottle of wine in UK.
However there is a local shop down the road to pick up much cheaper wine.

Also note the town down the road nothing is open apart from restaurants at night; therefore if you wish to visit the town you will need to go in the day.

Finally the beach was stunning, but you do need water shoes to go in the sea, as there is a lot of coral and sea urchins.

Many thanks to the whole of the Maradiva Hotel – we will be sure to book with you again in the future.

x
