When dining in a restaurant that has such a high rank, inevitably one's expectations are high as well. For those who want a quick read, this is a must go place. For those want to know why, read on. The food is either Indian or Chinese. The menu is divided rather well in this sense and for about half of the dishes there are pictures that are generally of help. The prawn tawa massala and fried dhall with naans were great. Not to mention the fried prawns for starters, that were fried perfectly, and served with four different sauces. So food gets 5 stars. The restaurant and bathroom was clean: 5 stars again. The staff is nice and never felt rushed.
What holds everything together and makes eating at Zub Express a wonderful experience is the owner Mr. Hassan (I hope I got his name right). He overlooked while we ordered and when I asked about the portions, he told us that we had ordered was enough, eventually we could order something else, later on. Frankly I wanted to order something else, but took his word for it. Naturally he was right, another dish would have been too much. It's rare these days to find such honesty. He and his staff get 5 stars as well.
The price is very good we paid around 22 Euros (we were in 2). The price/quality ratio is exceptionally good. Mr. Hassan, does however deserve an extra star... when asking him if we could call a cab, he asked us which direction we were going, and lucky for us, he had a delivery in the same direction so he gave us a lift back to the hotel! How could we ask for more?! Perfect. This was our first real night in Mauritius, thank you for your warm welcome!
