I've spent 7 nights at this hotel.
We arrived very late in the evening and had a small room not really clean.
However, we asked to change it and we got one just above the restaurant, with a big common balcony just facing the wonderful sea. If you want to change room, try to ask, if they have availabilty they will change it without making any problem.
The room was then well cleaned every day.
Food at restaurant is very good, since I'm vegetarian, I was positively surprised how all the staff took care of my dietary needs. Sometimes I could have managed to eat something from the buffet, however they always cookeed something separately just for me, without asking me to pay anything extra.
All the staff is extremely friendly and kind.
The swimming pool is big and clean, however the wonderful sea is just in front of the hotel, so I did not use it so much.
The hotel organize airport transfer, which is payable.
I have recommended this hotel to some friends of mine, and will continue to recommend it.
Hope to go back next year.

Room Tip: There is a turtle who pass dayly just a few meters from the beach, you can spot it around midday and...

This relatively small hotel compared to the super sized resorts down the road is a good place to stop searching. Food is wonderful and every night has a different theme. Snorkling spot is about 100m to the south and worth it! Our room was a little small but what de heck, we didn't come to spend time in the room anyway. Because the hotel is small you receive friendly and personal service.

We returned to this hotel for an evening meal a year later and they gave us a room to get dressed after spending the day on the beach (we only paid for dinner and they gave us a room!!). They also allow you to use the pool if you come for dinner and the Sega dancing was out of this world.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in a loose standing building. We were in the main building where the restaurant is. Y...

Travellers who love the beach should definitely stay at this resort. The restaurant overlooks the beach and hence you sort of have a private beach area just across your room. People are friendly and the food is nice too.

Stroll across the beach or care for a walk down the road you find beautiful scenic spots where you can relax, have a quick bite or just lie in good scenic ambience.

If you are looking for shopping at the markets or the city area attractions then this location at Flic en Flac is too far off. However you can go to the Safari which is close by. Other attractions are also not too far away but since in any way you will need to planyour trip to other attractions hence it might not make that big a difference.

Rooms are small in sze but the overall ambience is okay.

Room Tip: Choose the rooms facing the beach for a good view. Check the sizes as they differ.

If you're looking for a 3-star hotel with a great beeach location, this is excellent value for money. It's a small cosy hotel with very motivated and friendly staff. The rooms are different in style and facilities, mine was fine and spacious - it just needed some fresh air, as the windows seemingly hadn't been opened in a while. There was aircon and TV and Wlan at xtra cost.

Food was decent with good variety, but as mentioned the staff was great. When asking for a citronella tea, someone went into the garden and cut it fresh for us!

And Soobash the driver is just amazing. He knows Mauritius as well as any guide and is the best driver I've had in Mauritius (and I know a few): smooth, easy-going, knows all the scenic routes or the secret paths during rush-hour, and he'll keep you entertained in a very relaxed way. He also brought me papaya from his mum's house and did several special interest detours whenever we required them. And he does it for the fun of it, not for the tip - great!

In this very small and intimate setting of the hotel you get to know the other guests and make friends quickly... Enjoy your stay, we enjoyed ours.

This is a small hotel right on the beach and staff are friendly and helpful.
The hotel is not a luxurious five star Mauritian resort, nor does it pretend to be, so don’t go with such expectations. If your needs are more down to earth and you are happy with a more relaxed approach to holidays, then the Gold Beach Resort should suit you.
Rooms are clean and beds are comfortable, but not all rooms have a balcony and some that do are shared, so don’t expect total privacy. Bathrooms are modern with a shower, at least my room only had a shower, which worked well once you waited for the hot water to make its way through the system to you.
Breakfast and dinner are both buffet style but there is an a la carte menu as well, although choices from the latter really need to be made in advance. Food is plentiful but not cordon bleu – again don’t expect the 5 star treatment. However, the restaurant staff are very keen to do whatever they can to meet your requests. Lunch is also available.

The traditional Mauritius music and dance evening is about as boisterous as it gets at Gold Beach, but don’t plan to have an early night on that one occasion, as it is loud. However, all is over by about 11pm.

The hotel is on a fine stretch of beach but the coral reef just off the coast does deposit quite a lot of coral on the sand, so be prepared with protective footwear when venturing into the sea. Having said this, the sharp coral is not just confined to the beach next to this hotel, but all in the area are affected.

The grounds are very well kept and the swimming pool is well maintained. It is large enough, providing you are not planning on swimming several strenuous lengths before breakfast.

Two other points – if you are one of those people addicted to social networking sites, don’t go expecting free wifi - it is available but at a cost. Also, there are no kettles in the rooms for those who expect to have a cup of tea before getting out of bed.

The walk into Flic en Flac takes about 20mins, but there are a couple of little supermarkets and some souvenir shops just outside the hotel. The local bus passes by every 10-15mins and would take you to Quatre Bornes or Port Louis.
Reception can arrange car hire – rates are very reasonable.

I liked it very much at the Gold Beach Resort and would be very happy to return. Many thanks to all the staff who made my stay so enjoyable. If your expectations are fairly modest, easier said than done if you are planning a holiday in Mauritius, then try the Gold Beach Resort and I hope you will be pleasantly surprised.
