“Very nice stay”
Reviewed 29 December 2013

On the beach, in between the Medina and the surf club, we had a very nice stay in this hotel with an excellent service.
Not so close from the Medina of you are walking (5 min by cab so easy to find) but this is convenient if you wish to be more in the quiet part of the beach...
Too bad that the fitness opens only at 9am (because its is connected to the spa) for me 9am is too late...

Room Tip: Sea view is wondeful but can be noisy due to the street. The kids were in a pool view and were able...

Atlas Essaouira has had a number of harsh reviews, so I was dubious before staying there. However my experience with this hotel was very pleasant and exceeded my expectations. The service from the staff was attentive and excellent, although some of the staff struggle with English and service is not the greatest there (this is a common problem everywhere in Morocco, though). There isn't much to do in Essaouira, so it is a good idea to book a hotel with a pool as the beach is very windy!

First impressions of the hotel are very good - the lobby area is huge and well-presented with modern decor. The rooms are similar and are decorated to the same level, being very clean, with an extremely large bed (bigger than a super king size, but not as long length-wise!). Bathroom was immaculate with fresh towels and spa toiletries every day, and fluffy bathrobes. There was a safe and a large TV in our room with 2 comfortable chairs, although English channels are limited to BBC world and CNN. Underneath the TV is a mini fridge. The only thing that was missing was tea and coffee making facilities (however this was not available anywhere we stayed in Morocco), and the view was not great (this was expected, as we had paid for one of the cheaper rooms). Air conditioning could be improved. Wifi is too weak in the rooms, however is alright in the lobby and downstairs bar, and we found in our room (137) that we got the strongest wifi signal from sitting on the toilet!

The pool/outdoor areas were always clean and tidy, with large sofas and sunbeds (of which there were plenty). Fresh towels for the pool are provided. There is also a bar at the pool for drinks and food. Toilets by the pool and in the lobby were a little dirty but I don't think this is due to the lack of cleaners but rather due to the guests!

Breakfast was good but I have seen better in other lower-starred hotels. It is nothing special, with pastries, toast, meats and cheeses, cereals and hot foods. They serve bacon, something which is hard to come across in Moroccan hotels. There are some Moroccan options available too. The Piano Bar is great for lunch and drinks, serving mainly western foods such as burgers, club sandwich, etc.

The location is about a 15 minute walk to and from the medina, but if you're feeling lazy you can get a taxi which costs 10DH. It is right next to the beach.

Lastly, may I say that this hotel is completely safe. You can lock the doors from the inside, and even if you don't, someone can't get in from the outside unless they have a key. So please don't be put off by previous reviews!

Room Tip: Try to request a room with a sea view.

Having had 5 crazy days in Marrakech was great to relax and enjoy the calm of Essaouira the local Medina, alot easier to find your bearings and the local people and the Berbers all very friendly. A relaxing walk from the hotel to the port and Medina one direction and then in the other direction to the Beach & Friends Restaurant on the beach, where you can really unwind on the outside or inside settees and eat really good food which is not always traditional moroccan

It was obviously out of season and quite quiet so would have expected the cleanliness in the bedrooms to be of better standard, albeit passable. The Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. We found the buffet breakfast lacking in selection of fresh fruit and healthy cereal, alright if you like pre warmed fried food. Thought the Spa complex prices where expensive for what they offered. The Seven restaurant (part of the hotel) which is opposite the hotel on the rbeach was ok, but expensive for what they offered and the portions very small (and we do not eat alot) feel they are charging the prices as pat of a 5 star hotel, and it did not come up to scratch as did the food in the hotel for 5 star rating.... but it is Morocco!

We would stay at this hotel again as all in all the rooms are spacious and very comfortable beds and having stayed at other hotels after in Morocco we favour this one

The public areas are somewhat stark and clinical as are the bedrooms. The corridors are like a maze and are badly lit at night. However the rooms are clean and the beds comfortable and the bar prices are reasonable. The Buffet dinners and breakfasts are of excellent quality and variety.

Nice breakfast.
The room is clean and well equipped.
No restaurants in the hotel at night, only the one in the beach which was completely empty. If you want to have a nice dinner need to go to the Medina.
Nice staff (good guy in the late shift at reception) but if you call and order something they do not understand they will just not go or call you back.

This hotel was great value. The buffet in the evening was perfect as we arrived late in the evening and didn't want to walk into the centre. The staff were all very helpful and friendly and even posted me an item of clothing I had left in the room back to the UK for no charge. The beach opposite had camels and the walled town was about 10-15 minutes walk along the beach (or a taxi ride costing less than £1) . The pool was clean and well kept and staff there were really helpful too, providing towels and refreshing cocktails too.

The hotel is really nice, we stayed two nights and we relaxed a lot.
The beach is just in front and the swimming pool is also great.
It is a bit too far to the city, walking about 15 min.
We had to pay for the spa (warm pool and sauna or hammam) which I found not typical european...
The breakfast is great, and better in the terrace.
The room was clean and the bathroom as well, but I found small details which I didn't expect from a 5 star hotel, at least not in europe, like a spot in the leather pillow.
