The newest of about 4 allegedly 5* hotels in an old arab fishing town that is alive with people.
On arrival the hotel is stylish and grand, reception and staff very polite, helpful and efficient. We booked a room with a sea view which looked over the main beach and the coast road, not noisy just active.
My main criticisms of this somewhat expensive hotel for the area/country was the room. I have never stayed in a 5* hotel which has a ardrobe with only 2 clothes hangers and no drawers or cupboard space anywhere. We ended up leving our clothes on the furniture and over chairs. We did get more hangers the next day but no cupboards or drawers??
Other than our included breakfast we did not eat in the hotel.
Breakfast was reasonable, a wide variety of food from eggs, cereal and fruit to Arabic mint tea. It was a bit of an ordeal because of the lack of cups and so many trying to get as much on a plate as humanly possible - is this not becoming more of a pain everywhere?
The private hotel beach was a real bonus as the locals invade during the summer and the sight is unbelievable from dawn to the early hours - not a problem but a fantastic sight and feel.
The walled medina was tight and crowded all day and night and only worrying if you get too lost in the residential alleyways off the shopping routes.
With so many excellent restaurants in the town from the harbour all through the medina you are thoroughly spoiled for choice. I would recommend Chez Sam at the end of the harbour but most do delicious tagines and seafood. A must at least once are the seafood stalls between the harbour and the medina where 20 or so small fishmongers with barbeques and tables cook your choice of seafood to order with drinks and salad for good prices.
The town craftsmen and artists are superb but no chance of getting much back with charter airlines weight restricitons. Not much other than the sun and wind/water sports locally so about 5 days would be plenty here.
Hotel expensive and rooms under furnished but recommended rather than taking the lottery of picking accomodation when you get there.
