What a wonderful place to stay ! 12 rooms individually styled and furnished. Not all rooms have a bath - so if this is really important to you - request one at the time of booking. No evening meals served, but lunchtime snacks available. The young lady on reception was exceptionally helpful - making recommendations for places to eat. Lovely rooftop terrace overlooking the sea - delightful. Would recommend Elixir restaurant - feels like a 60's throw back but the food was amazing !

Room Tip: All the rooms were fne.

This was probably the sixth riad we had stayed in Morocco, and it was certainly good.

We had the room on the top floor which opened out onto the terrace. If you like stairs then this is the place for you.

The room was clean and neat, and the view from the terrace was lovely. It was great to just duck out from your room to the bar and obtain refreshments.

Lunch and breakfast were served on the terrace and were fine.

Room Tip: Get the top floor if you want a good view.

We got an wonderful upgrad! We had the room called "Opium". I suppose, it is one of the nices rooms in this hotel. We saw different ones, all of them were very nice, but the "Opium is definitely the bigges one with a great view on the sea. We had breakfast on the terrasse, which was good and also the quality of the served food was very good. We can recommend this hotel very much. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Aks for the room called "Opium"

At first the Riad seems a little dark and much to quiet. But then you dig into it and it opens up - with rooms in classic travel interior that gives reminense to days gone by where steamers and mahogany was classy.
And then you hit the terrasse .... WAOOOOUW .. and you just make a deep breath to take the fantastic view in. Its a fantastic place to relax and to enjoy the fantastic and extremely relaxing views. Whether you want to sun tan or relax on the sofas in the shade with agood book ... this place fills ups your batteries !
The location is in the new kasbah a quiet area of essaouria but evrything is so close the harbour and fish eatings places there, the touristic part of essouari or the old souk and the old mellah ...
If we would recommend it .. DEFINITELY !

We spent 5 nights here in July 2013 - following a crazy few months we just wanted somewhere to relax and Villa de L'o was the perfect choice. The public parts of the hotel are stunning - plenty of space, little birds flying around in the open air courtyard, a chess board in the library which we used most days, and candles lit all over the place every evening. It's all so classy and welcoming. Our room was gorgeous, a super comfy bed and it even had an upper level with two singles which we weren't expecting. Breakfast on the roof terrace was the perfect way to wake up, yummy fresh fruit and coffee in particular.

The hotel arranged a quad biking trip on the beach for us which was one of the highlights of our whole holiday, an incredible couple of hours whizzing around. We hadn't been to Morocco before and Essaouira was the perfect place to start. It's a stunning walled city with lots to see and buy (leave plenty of room in your suitcase!). Having read reviews on here we worried that most people seem to visit the city for a day trip and we'd be going out of our mind with boredom after 5 days but this wasn't the case at all. The beach is great but very windy and the city has so many little meandering street that there's always a new place to visit, and the hotel is just inside the walls of the medina so you're seconds away from being right in the thick of it.

The option for restaurants is great - although as a vegetarian the variety isn't wonderful.

We will definitely be back - we've travelled all over the world and, for us, this was the most beautiful of all hotels, and incredibly reasonable in terms of price.

We stayed two nights here following our stay in Marrakesh and it was a lovely way to relax. The lady at reception was very helpful and gave us a nice tour of the house along with taking us on the roof terrace for complimentary drins. Our room was on the second floor and very nicely decorated.

Breakfast on the terrace was very pleasant although there wasn't much variety but that was ok as we were only there two days. The receptionist recommended some activities and we choose the quad biking which was my husband and I both loved!

All in all, a lovely central, relaxing, champing place to stay. Thank you, Sarah and James

We spent 5 nights at Villa de l'O on a family holiday to Essaouira. This was our first time to Morocco and we'd happily go back and stay at this wonderful hotel. Essaouira is a small place and the Villa is ideally located near the Medina and beach. We booked a room to share with our 4 year old daughter and had plenty of space. She literally had her own mezzanine floor! Our room was beautifully decorated and cleaned twice daily. The attention to detail was lovely with welcome treats in our room on arrival and bottles of water replenished daily. The staff were excellent. Always on hand to answer any queries or concerns and recommending places to visit. The hotel doesn't serve any meals apart from breakfast but this was fine for us and gave us the opportunity to try the many great restaurants in Essaouira. Breakfast in the hotel is wonderful and is served either on the roof terrace or downstairs near the reception. If the weather is nice I would definitely recommend the roof as you have great views of the beach! Definitely a great experience overall for us and we look forward to returning there one day soon.
