“Best Birthday and Holiday so far”
Reviewed 27 August 2013

I work in the Luxury Travel Industry and my company have been working with Rebali Riads for some time now. We send a lot of people there, so I decided to book Riad Valmar for 4 nights for myself and 11 friends over the bank holiday weekend and my birthday.

The riad is beautiful, with stunning rooms and great outside space the property really has that 'wow-factor'. There are great facilities, including a tennis court and a spa. The wildlife around the grounds are great, ranging from chameleons to baby turtles. The service is impeccable, Mohamed is wonderful and the food delicious. The value for money here is incredible, the breakfasts and afternooon tea are scrumptious and having these delivered to the riad, so you can eat outside is just great. The riad was cleaned to an extremely high level every day, and the rose petals on the bath and bed was such a lovely touch.

I certainly want to go back next year and for longer!

Thank you so much Mohamed and your team, I really was blown away by your service and attention to detail - and it is my job to be picky about this. So thank you so very much!

Room Tip: The Mint Suite and Sienna Suite in Riad Valmar are such a great size, beautifully decorated and have...

We had the most wonderful week with our five children. Mohammed and his staff were lovely. The food was fabulous. The kids enjoyed surfing, quad biking, walking along the beach to Abdul's cafe and meeting the monkey. The chameleons in the gardens were very popular with the younger children. We loved having our own pool and a rather competitive series of water volley ball kept the boys very happy. We were so lucky with the weather as we had a couple of windy days and then no wind at all. The night skies were stunning - our 16 year old has just done GCSE Astronomy and couldn't believe how clearly he could see the Milky Way. We will definitely be coming back. Thanks also to Nick for some great tennis coaching and Ali for the surfing.

Room Tip: All great and really the only reason to choose is for the number of travellers.

My husband thought that I'd never find a family holiday that ticked all of my very demanding boxes:

1. Luxurious self contained privacy but with the option of service and social interaction
2. Culturally different and stimulating for the kids but not too far from the UK
3. Private pool
4. Option of varied activities that would be suitable for us all
5. Delicious traditional food
6. Affordable (and during school holidays)
7. Communal sports (tennis, table tennis, swimming)
8. Luxurious massages and beauty treatments
9. Option of the kids getting to know and interact with local people
10. Beach in walking distance

Much to my delight, my husband was wrong (as usual!). We found all of the above, and much much more, in one beautiful relaxing place. The only problem with the Rebali Riads is that they have raised the bar so high on our holiday expectations that I fear we will always be disappointed by our future holidays.

Wow ! Arriving at the Rebali really blew our minds ... you'd never expect such a stylish and private haven of peace and relaxation after the last stretch of the road into Sidi Kaouki.
Unfortunately we only stayed there for one night - well, we had not booked anything in advance and just took a chance but we were treated like royalty, honestly !
Mohammed, the very charming Manager had everything organized for us, from parking our car in the garage at the back to having our laundry done and a bottle of the most exquisite Rose chilled in the fridge ... and that during Ramadan - wow !!!
Stargazing from the dining room at night and sun tanning in privacy on your own roof terrace, the a la menthe and petit fours or cake, blissful relaxation in their very own Hammam and the generous en-suite bathrooms are such a welcome luxury after a day on the beach.
Truly ***** :) !!!
Want to stay longer on another visit ...

Room Tip: Each Riad is unique and beautifully and tastefully decorated and furnished, my favourite is the one...

We recently returned from a very relaxing weeks stay at Rebali. We chose to stay at the largest Riad Valmar, and whilst it felt a bit extravagant for the 5 of us, we loved the privacy of our own swimming pool, garden, patio and very spacious interior - all beautifully designed and decorated. The food at Rebali was excellent - good quality and good value. The all inclusive breakfast included freshly squeezed orange juice, a Moroccan specialty, fruit, bread, condiments, yoghurt and occasional coco pops! We had breakfast when and where we wanted it - and each day Mohammed dropped by to see if we needed anything. He arranged a camel trip to the fish restaurant, car hire from our front door and a lilo for our pool - nothing was too much trouble for Mohammed or any of the delightful staff. We chose the resort because of its reputation for strong winds, and the kite surfers in our party were not disappointed. This is an ideal resort if you are looking for strong winds, waves and more challenging conditions - but it is equally good if you are looking for a beautiful place to relax and unwind. We can't wait to go back!

We stayed in Dar Mevada at Rebali Riads and it offered a boutique hotel service from Mohammed and his team but with the privacy of your our own private pool and garden.

Breakfast was served every morning either at poolside terrace or interior dining room. We mainly had it served inside as the bees/wasps loved the honey and jams. Ample and varied breakfasts which included tea, coffee, orange juice, fruit, yoghurt, crepes, toast, pastries, eggs, bread, jams, honey.

Dinner in the evening was three courses and the chef adapted to my husband's dislike of tomatoes. That brought a smile to the chef's face - "how can you not like tomatoes?"

Inside was contemporary Morrocan decor, very clean with making of beds and cleaning done daily.

After breakfast Mohammed visited us every day to check everything was ok and to see what we wanted to do that day. So much to do . Take the 30 minute camel trip along beach to the fishing village. It was an experience followed by a freshly caught fish / seafood lunch and slow walk back.

Mohammed also arranged a 20 minute taxi trip to Essaouria, Only about £8 one way so very reasonable and then you can organise a pick up with the driver for the return journey. We found 3 to 4 hours was about right for a bite to eat and a browse round the souks.

We visited Hassan the gardeners' Berber farm and the hospitality from his mother was overwhelming. A brisk 30 minute walk there and then back but worth seeing local culture first hand. Hassan was great for hunting out chamleons in the garden for our daughter too.

There is an n site spa so have a hammam at the start of your stay and prepare your skin for the holiday.

Overall an excellent experience with a warm and friendly team of Morrocan staff. Not intrusive at all.

Truly is a great place if you have children in the party - you're nearly on the (wild, windswept) beach but also have plenty of facilities on-site. The pool is on the snug side (some villas have small private pool; ours was one of three that shares a slightly larger one) but there's a tennis court (surface a bit cracked but, frankly, who cares - it's great for a knockabout) and table tennis. Also the staff will happily find chameleons and tortoises for you. We spent hours watching the chameleons in the tree outside our bedrooms.
The villas are lovely - very spacious and comfortable (but not air-conditioned). TV was a delight for the eight year old in our party, as was the selection of DVDs the riads happily loan. They also have a selection of games you can borrow.
Breakfast is served on your own private terrace by gently smiling women. The staff are uniformly lovely. You can also opt to eat in for lunch or supper but we ventured out and found plenty of good food locally (much cheaper).
The hammam is small but very lovely and I had a wonderful treatment from Monika - my skin felt superbly soft for about ten days afterwards. Would highly recommend.
Wifi access is a bit scatty and only really available by the office - and vanishes altogether sometimes (but that can be a bonus).
Villas have lovely rooftop spaces with seating/lolling areas - superb for stargazing apparently (sadly it was too cloudy during our visit). The roof also supposedly opens up - but the mechanism of ours appeared faulty during our stay.
You can self-cater - there's a small but adequate kitchen but you'd need to go a way off to get food (the local 'shops' are not capacious, to say the least!). But there are plenty of nice cafes in the square and it's worth walking twenty minutes down the beach to a cafe serving freshly caught fish (don't be put off by the dogs - they're okay).
Recommended - will definitely return.

Room Tip: All seemed pretty nice.

Many thanks for your lovely review - we are so glad you enjoyed the stay. I am sorry the remote controlled roof was not working for you - the mechanisms do occasionally suffer being so close to the beach but all the roofs are now working.

You are also right that the tennis court is not up to "Andy Murray" standard and re-surfacing it is on our to do list, but like you many clients tell us not to worry as it still makes for a great game. Even our tennis coach says not to bother....

I am so glad you enjoyed exploring the village and trying out the restaurants - we are lucky to have so many great places to eat close by and a new opening for this year is the Blue Kaouki which has lovely views. We also think our own chef is great and a three course meal for £12 (£8 for children) is pretty good value!

It is shame you didn't get clear nights as the star gazing from the roof terraces is fantastic and cloud cover is very rare. We have also just purchased a pair of tripod -mounted star gazing binoculars for guest use and it works well to combine this with an ipad based "star walk" app.

It is great that you got to meet our chameleons - they fascinating creatures and don't seem to mind the attention. You may like to visit the Rebali facebook page for the latest photos of the various animal visitors

Thanks again and of course we'd love to welcome you for a return trip.
