Sylvie, Piermark and Hakim made our stay an overwhelmingly warm and friendly one and has made us want to return. The staff are all friendly, courteous and generous and the rooms were comfortable with individual decor and identity. The breakfast was delicious with lashings of mint tea and orange juice and a variety of other delights to accompany. Hakim organised a camel trip for us which was fabulous and nothing was too much trouble. The relaxation area was lovely and when there was a (very rare) storm one night, Hakim lit a fire which was much appreciated. The smell, look and whole ambiance of the place was wonderful and I would say was more like a boutique hotel than a riad. Don't stay anywhere else in Essaouria!

We stayed in Essaouira for 5 nights at Riad Malaika and we loved it! Sylvie and Pier Mark made us extremely welcome and Hakim treated us like royalty! My family have never stayed anywhere so welcoming and beautiful before and we all highly recommend it to you!!

We stayed here for 2 nights, and had a great experience. The hotel is super clean, cool and trendy. The room we stayed in was great with plenty of room, great shower and comfortable bed. The staff were more than friendly, with a special mention to Hakim who really is an asset to the Riad and was like a friend to myself and my girlfriend “muchas gracias amigo”. The roof terrace is perfect for relaxing after a day of sight seeing, shopping and eating sea food.

This riad is located about 2 – 15 minutes walk from all places of interest and due to the way Essaouira is laid out you won’t get lost.

Thank you for making our time in Essaouira extra special, highly recommended.

Hakim the young lad who speaks excellent English looked after us,with the gentleman owner who unfortunately doesnt speak Englsh. They both made sure we were well looked after.Their service was so good that I have had to give 5 star ratings in all areas. There are so many good things here:breakfasts is varied everyday, you have wireless wifi, the mint tea is just amazing.,The French owner has mastered hospitality;its like staying with a friend. We were also upgraded for no charge as when we arrived we wanted to stay for 2 more days and our room had been allocated on those days.
Just one point i wanted to make a Riad is not a hotel;if you are gonna arrive really late in early hours of the mornimng or want to leave really early in the morning before 8am- you need to let them know otherwise you are gonna wake someone up out of their bed. Also noise in all Riads amplifies easily s please be considerate of others. This is not a cheap Riad but the service was worth every penny.I love to save money but would pay the extra to stay here. This place is not number 3 on trip advisor by chance. The owners,Hakim and other staff work hard and are superbly hospitable so much so that if they ever came to Manchester I would want to repay their hospitality.DONT STAY ANYWHERE ELSE IS MY ADVICE.

That Riad is a good place to stay in Essaouira. Centrally located, with very nice and authentic rooms. Everything is very new as the Riad opened recently.
The staff haven't been such friendly as we were used to from other Riads.

We stayed during our Morroc tour in this Riad and it is a very secret tip due that it reopened 4months ago. It is very nice, price value is correct and the stuff is friendly (espc. Hakim the 20year old boy; you can ask him everything and he is very handsome. so be aware of your girls between 18-25:)
We would recommened whenever you go to Essaouira to book that Riad.

Spent one week here in the top floor suite during the Gnaua festival when Essaouira was heaving with visitors. The Malaika was cool, calm and a pleasant retreat from the heat and the crowds of the medina, just at the end of the alley, two minutes away from all the action.

There are glitzier places to stay in Essaouira and there are undoubtedly many much worse too. The Malaika, for me at least is first and foremost great value for money and a place where the on site management and their team really work to look after you.

I'd wholeheartedly recommend the Malaika to anyone. There are just a couple of points I can think of that could be improved.

Breakfast is delicious but monotonous after a couple of days. Some fresh fruit, fresh local yoghurt or some eggs would go a long way to liven it up.

The roof terrace could do with a makeover. At the time of our stay it was mostly unused, the furniture looked a little tired and the space needed a good scrub.

Still five stars for the price/comfort/service combination.
