This hostel was a great experience for us. We stayed 2 nights in 2 different rooms as we booked on the way. Rooms had everything we needed and very large bathrooms at least for double bed ones. Is very clean you can have access to the kitchen as it s a very nice experience to go in the market buy stuff and cook it on your own instead of eating in restaurant as we do it home all the time. When we stayed it was Ramadan and they we re not eating all day and in the evening when we arrive they invited us to eat with them. Very nice kind and warm stuff and I can t wait to come back. Lady at the reception was always smiling.

I totally recommend this place!

nice place, close from everywhere, nice staff and very friendly, comfortable common areas.
you must improve your internet, it doesn`t work at all!!, they don`t really accept credit card as the website and booking sites say they do.

The staff here are unique in the marriage of tolerance , care and helpfulness. Every problem has a solution at Dar El Pacha, and nothing and no-one is too much trouble. It has a 'home from home ' atmosphere that is its charm and attraction. Does everything work perfectly in your home? At least here ther is the whole range of choice from an entirely self- catering experience to bed, breakfast and evening meal in ensuite accomodation with cooking lessons thrown in. I found nowhere els in Essaouira I would rather stay AND it became by far the cheapest option, all things considered. After 5 days I felt part of the Pacha family and was always glad to return after sorties into the Medina. A haven of calm, friendliness and good humour with a commanding roof terrace ideal for sunrise and sunset contemplations and music-makings. It will always be my first port of call in all future visits to Essaouira.

Room Tip: Tell Saida exactly what you want on arrival and if it is available she will provide it, or the next...

The place was dingy, with the distinct funk of off cat.
On entrance, ones nostrils are assaulted with the foul odour of soggy moggy.
Saying that, it wasn't a bad place at all and the smell of cat was only faint and only at the entrance.

The room... was functional with a high ceiling, although a bit cramped and the ensuit bathroom lacked a door or even a curtain plus no soap was provided. Also the plug sockets in our room didn't work.

Breakfast was pretty poor, the coffee was undrinkable and the croissants were very stale. Easily the worst breakfast we had in morocco.

Staff wise.. didn't have a lot to do with them.. so don't feel qualified to comment.

Plus points... location and rooftop and general appearance
out of 10... 6.

We stayed here as it was cheap, quiet and we had large rooms. That's the plus points. It is run down, a bit smelly which is nice if you like damp smells. The breakfast is very basic, even to the waterd down jam. The access is through a series of alleyways culminating in a tunnel popular with cats/people who can't wait to get home for a toilet break. That said, it was cheap and quiet! We had two rooms and a large bathroom (which sometimes had hot water for a short while) and amazing views from the roof. All for £12 a night between two. If you want soemthing more upmarket, then it will cost. If you want basic guesthouse stuff, this will work very well and is about the cheapest in Essaouira.

Central location in the middle of the medina. If you are new in the town, it can be difficult to find that place.Streets are really narrow there and a bit not clear for newcomers but don`t worry for sure someone will help you, small tip will be welcomed. The building is very old and has a very interesting architecture, nice character and unique atmosphere. There are a few floors and a terrace. Helpful and friendly staff. Simple breakfast and free internet, very old PC, hope they have got a better one. The place is very cheap so don`t expect luxury conditions.
