Definitely book, as this humble restaurant only has 4 tables! You literally feel like you have just eaten from a morrocan mumma's kitchen, THE best flavours we've come across so far. We ordered about 7 dishes, all of them perfect. The sardines were so delicious, we ordered another plate straight away. When the bill arrived we were absolutely blown away by how affordable everything was. If you're in essaouira, this has to be on your to do list!

We were sent here by the owner of our accommodation and she didn't let us down. This is a simple, small, reasonably priced restaurant with traditional typical Moroccan food. Its right behind the souk (coming from the port just pass through the souk and immediately turn left. Its on that street on the right and is well signed). You can make reservations. This restaurant is owned by a local unlike so many other restaurants in this town. What I learnt from our host is that almost all restaurants in Essaouira are for tourists/expats because the locals generally do not eat out. So don't go looking for a place the 'locals eat' because you are unlikely to find anything. What you need to find is a place the 'local expats eat' and Miyame is such a place with good food but is not out to fleece you (see my review of Restaurant El Yakoute which is in the must avoid tourist trap category).

4 of us ate here and thoroughly enjoyed our evening meal. We booked and had the back table in this tiny restaurant. We all had lovely meals and the apple pie for desert was delightful. If you go to this place expecting silver service you may well be disappointed, but as a local ethnic experience it was unbeatable. The prices were very reasonable. We did take some very nice local wine in with us but not sure what they thought of that but we drank it.

We made a reservation, which is important as the place is very small and very good. The atmosphere is homely, the service a bit slow, but the stuffed sardines were the best I have ever eaten for as little as 35 dirhams. Absolutely recommended.

You just have to eat there if you are in Essaouira, but book in advance, only abt 15 guests.
A restaurant like few others, more so for the atmosphere and the room than the food, which by the way is excellent as well. No wine, but try "byo".
