“Overpriced”
Reviewed 19 October 2013

Rumoured to be the best restaurant in town, maybe food wise, but value for money, questionable.

The restaurant is based in Riad Heurre Bleue, a very exclusive Riad so a very personalised service set in wonderful surroundings.

The trimmings you get are as expected from a high end establishment and from the start it augured well, my starters sardines the Missourra way, which were nice, sardines prepared in three different ways. My wife had the spider crab, however bits of shell were present.

For the main course I opted for the plaice and lobster this was competently cooked however my wife had issues with her dish, this led us giving feedback to the chef.

The service recovery was excellent and my compliments to the staff for such an amicable solution, which we thoroughly enjoyed, as such I have disregarded the issues in my rating.

However having eaten in a Michelin starred establishment less than four weeks ago in the south east of England, which an expensive part of the country, the food there was better and cheaper than at Heurre Bleue.

Essourra has plenty of restaurants at the fraction of the cost, so if you are going to charge high prices you would expect extraordinary food.

So the rating given reflects value for money, food quality was good.

So think carefully before you book, this in not Michelin starred cuisine, yet Michelin starred prices are being charged, so be warned so not to be disappointed.

“perfect dinner, fine wine&dine place”
Reviewed 18 August 2013

I saw this restaurant on travellers choice and we have been there for dinner. Dishes were great. The staff was helpful. I can suggest chicken tajinn and their homemade wines. Local live music was amazing.

“Exquisite”
Reviewed 22 May 2013

Extremely helpful waiter, excellent serrvice, beautiful food presented most attractively. We chose the salt baked fish and watching the waiter serve it was brilliant - a real art form. We could not fault it at all. The atmosphere is lovely too.
Not cheap but well worth it.
Lunches here are excellent too.

“"Finer dining" in Essaouira”
Reviewed 10 May 2013

the place and ambience correspond well to Relais & Chateau fine dining, , it's calm, clearly for Europeans (rather senior, rather slightly above avg income couples), which might not be bed as you can be pretty sure, that you will probably avoid "slippers", shorts, or "half naked" sun burnt europeans widely to be seen elsewhere.

Service is pretty good and fast, menu simple and fresh. combination of traditional cuisine and more modern with fresh fishes as a key attraction.

Well, pity thar quality of food didn't live up to the brand name and expectations. it was not bad, but really average, without and surprise for any of the 5 senses, with fish clealrly dry, overdone.....
i give it 4 point, because comprared to our other Essaouira experiences it was the best, compared to majority of other cities benchmarks incl Morocco it could be judged only as overpriced disappointment

“Absolutely the best place to wine and dine in Essaouira!”
Reviewed 3 March 2013 via mobile

As accidental passers by we walked past the relatively anonymius facade of this hotel and restaurant. Tired of the limited menus of the local Maroccan restaurants we where surprised by the the choice offered and the quality. Absolutely the best in town! Interior alone is worth a visit and yhe staff could teach their collegues how it should be done. Thanks for wonderful food in a fantastic ambiance with the greatest staff we' ve experienced yet in Marocco!

Tip: both the freshly made Harire soup and the Lambs shoulder are to be had!
