We chanced on this place after having bailed out from a poor meal a few streets away. The chap found us a table upstairs and made us coffee which we had with some delicious profiteroles. We can back another twice and each time had a nice meal and a good evening. Both upstairs and downstairs are nice, cosy but not too crowded and after a chat about musical tastes, the manager put on some BB King for us (yes I know its not ethnic but we enjoyed it...). So this place deserves all the other nice reviews I see it has. Also it was very reasonably priced. Highly recommended !

This is a place where we had one of our best meals in Morocco! Heavenly food, great value for money and very friendly staff. One day they opened the restaurant specially for us, even though it was officially closed (between lunch and dinner)! Charming little place in the very centre of Essaouira medina.

The restaurant was recommended by our hotel owner as we asked him for a place for a cooking class for chicken pastilla! Eventough this restaurant usually doesn't offer cooking classes, he just said we should ask! And that we did - without problem we were told to come by the next afternoon so we could watch the chef making our pastilla and we only had to pay for the normal price/person!!
The food is more than great and really fresh! Whereelse you could get to go in the kitchen and watch the chef do her perfomance!!
It was a great experience with great people!! You should definitly eat at this restaurant!!

The food was really pretty good, and a good price. The atmosphere was a bit dry, not bad at all but it felt like the music choice was perhaps more what the staff felt the tourists would want than their own personal taste (mix of classic early blues). I would go there again, it might not be my first choice but it's got a big menu and it's a very safe bet if you have cautious eaters in the party.
