In February I went on a photographic trip with Darren Lewey to the Atlas mountains. I can recommend this trip for the beautiful mountain scenery, the river valleys with the almond trees in flower and ancient ruins melting back into the earth. The people were very friendly and allowed us to take their pictures. I hope to go on another trip with Darren in the future.

I was looking for a photographic trip that could give me the opportunity to live Morocco at a deeper level, mingling with locals and enjoying its breathtaking landscapes. The tour offered by "Images in the Sun" gave me this chance, and much more!

Darren and his Moroccan team deliver a very professional, well organized yet exciting tour; taking care of all of us well before we arrived and without them this experience wouldn't have been the same. For each day different sights and activities were proposed, and depending on the weather conditions or our group interests alternative plans were available in a very easygoing way.

We had the privilege to visit wonderful cities, like Ait Ben Haddou (where few movies were partially recorded in, like Gladiator), amazing landscapes (including the Atlas mountains, the dunes, oasis, etc) and the unique possibility to get to know the generous, genuine and happy Moroccan people; visiting their houses, markets, etc... learning about their culture and enjoying wonderful stories while drinking tea. We even had a chance to share some hours with a Nomad family in a very remote location in the Atlas, as well as to enjoy a camel trip to a Berber camp in the dunes where we spent the night.

The hotels were picturesque, clean and with a good service. We always had good local food, and the van trips didn't feel very long.

Furthermore, I found a fantastic group of very diverse people with whom I shared a great passion for photography and adventure, and we really had a great time together.

Overall, I cannot recommend enough this experience. It has been one of the best trips of my life.

We happened to be lucky enough to visit during Ramadan. Each day was a different sight, starting with the port where the fish was bought in fresh, watching the fishermen bring their catch to shore and the subsequent haggling that went on to send this fish to market.

The following day we visited the markets where you can pick up all kinds of bargains. We were shown different spices - how to tell fake saffron from real. It's a great place to pick up Argan oil and other such beauty products if you are into that kinda thing. It was interesting to see how markets abroad compare to those back in the UK. It's also a great place to pick up fresh spices at bargain prices.

These tours help the local community as you are buying products directly from them as opposed to commercial resellers. A lot of this produce is home made and organic.

I can't recommend this tour highly enough - you will take back a lot of wonderful memories.
