We spent a couple of nights at Villa Maroc last month on a quick break to the coast away from the heat of Marrakesh......the riad is in a fantastic location right near the square, with the most amazing views of the beach & the skala and port from the terraces.Building itself was bigger than we expected, with lots of lovely little nooks & crannies to cosy up in (and a beautiful pine tree with nesting doves growing through the centre of the building right outside our room!). The room was clean, fresh & well furnished. We loved that you could take breakfast anywhere in the riad, & also that they have a bar : beer on the terrace at sundown was wonderful! We will be back.

Room Tip: We had the standard double room which was small but functional with a nice bathroom & was nice...

A beatiful riad, it is much bigger than I expected, I think the riad is comprised of few old homes with few courtyards and lots of different stairs, it was like a maze....the view from the terrace was amazing, you take your breakfast while watching teh ocean, listening to the sound of the vibrating medina and just relaxed among the white washed walls with a fresh air after Marrakesh.....

The riad can arrange a taxi to Marralesh for 700 MAD(65 euros) or you can take the bus back for 6 euros. The spa had some good deals but we were short on time, the room was really spaceful and serene. They have internet next to the reception desk.

This hotel is ideally located, our room was on the terrace with great views across the harbour.

The room was very nice with a good bathroom and was clean and well maintained. The furniture and decor appears slightly dated and will need updating soon.

We enjoyed the breakfast and the staff were very friendly although most had poor English skills.

The candles late at night were nice around the lounge area and we enjoyed a game of chess and glass of wine although the price was somewhat high for a very ordinary wine.

Overall the hotel does appear to be getting close to time for a decor update. The layout is somewhat confusing with numerous steps but homely, it would be cosy during winter also.

The terrace needs a tidy up and looks a bit old and cluttered with faded furnishings and pot plants.

sleep and peace was interuped by horrific screaming coming from loud speakers at all hours of the day and night.

For the last part of our holiday in Morroco June 2010 we stayed 5 days at Villa Maroc in Essaouira. The Riad was just lovely so relaxed with all its little nooks and crannies to discover. It is painted a bright white and blue a real contrast with other parts of Morrocco. We often had a coffee and liqueur after dinner in one of the small lounge areas reading our books by an open fire!! Yes the nights were colder but the days were hot. Being on the Atlantic coast the climate is cooler than Marekesh and quite windy. Watching the fishermen come in and unload their catch with so many huge sea gulls swooping around was fascinating to see. Lovely meals cooked here for you if you order in advance. Definitely recommend this Riad

We stayed at Villa Maroc for one week and it was a dream from the beginning to the end. This is surely one of the most charming Hotels I have ever stayed at, worth the flight to Morrcco! Extremely well located in Essaouira, these combined four Riads, with their green and cool courtyards, are filled with a beautiful atmoshere of wind, light and moroccan hospitality. All Hotel rooms are very special, individually decorated and traditionally furnished with a lot of love and taste, so is the whole house. We stayed at one of the highly recommendable suites. Breakfast at the roof-top, with an amazing view over bay and harbour, a romantic and extremely delicious dinner in one of the fireside-lounges, a relaxing massage at the In-house Spa are some of he highlights.

this villa is decorated really well, a lovely place. However we thought it was over-rated and over-priced. We got a big room which looked lovely but the seating was v uncomfortable, the cheap plastic toilet seat fell off when we lifted the lid. The seating elsewhere again looked good but wasn't comfortable. I'd say it's a place to stay for a night or two but not for longer.

The food was great though, highly recommend that.

Villa Maroc is probably the most beautiful hotel I've ever stayed in. The decor, the ambiance, the rooms, the staff - all were wonderful and for a very reasonable price. We had the least expensive room and it was beautifully furnished and luxurious. Breakfast on the terrace was the best we had in Morocco. The staff at the hotel were helpful and professional. They were reserved, but we appreciated the fact that they would speak English with us and not treat us like we had a disease because we didn't speak French. They were lovely. The bar is comfortable and has a great atmosphere and all of the fireplaces actually had fires in them in the evening. Our entire experience here was lovely and we have loads of pictures of this beautiful hotel to prove it!

Room Tip: There are no bad rooms in this hotel.
