Ask to see room as they do seem to differ quite allot, we had one on the front with a lounge area, very good if a little noisy for a short period at night till things settled down. Staff helpful breakfast good. As with all these riads look at what your paying if you want first class go stay in a smart hotel these places are all individual and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this one if only for it's central location. We shall be going back as we found Eassouaria a beautiful place especially watching the sunset from the sea wall.

We came to Eassouaria with high hopes for the riad after a bad experience ina Marrakech hotel. It was certainly better relative to where we were previously, but nowhere near the quality of riads ive stayed in before. The manager was quite abrupt at times, and not friendly. She was more concerned with informing us about extra costs than making us feel welcome. They had not understood our emails about an extra person and so one of us had to sleep on a 'put you up' bed with springs poking through. We had a free hammam with our Groupon voucher, but this consisted of sitting in a small room and pouring bowls of hot water over us to create steam! we were then informed that exfoliation was extra!

The room was fairly clean but there was a condom wrapper on the floor, and a panty liner wrapper in the hammam! It was very noisy due to being near the mosque and being woken by the call to prayer at 530am.

Breakfast was not bad but the evening meal was not very good.

When we went to pay at the end we were told their credit card machine was broken. This resulted in a stressful hour of trying to find an ATM before catching our bus. We failed and in the end had to give all of our spare cash. As a result they got no tip (not enough cash). It would seem this is a ploy to avoid paying credit card charges so this is their own fault.

courtyard area was very nice.

This is not the most expansive, but certainly the finest of all hotels in Essaouira. I have been traveling to Morocco for almost twenty years, and there is no place I feel more at home than in the Riad Al Madina. As the name points out, the hotel is located in the very center of one of the most beautiful medinas of the country. It combines the standards one would expect from a high-class hotel (cozy rooms, TV, WiFi, excellent restaurant, bar, wide range of spa options, like hamam, massage etc.) with the magic of a very old »oriental« building. Each column, espacially in the wonderful patio, smells a bit of the moved history the city has gone through in the last three centuries. Last but not least one has to emphasize the friendliness of the whole staff. It starts with helpful and polite baggage porter, goes on with the discreet cleaning ladies and the the courteous and quick waiters, and it ends with the wonderful management which is always ready to help you.

thought it was a cute way to experience historical Morocco in a riad. We did love our room, with a sitting room, double bedroom and upstairs bathroom..Everyone in our group was not as happy though... Rooms are all very different - some a little musty. I would ask to see the room prior to paying.

Breakfast ok only... not the freshiest.... and one stray hair later.

It is reasonably good choice for Morocco though...

Room Tip: ask to see!!!!!

I found 2 cockroaches in my room. Furthermore, extremely noisy and often a strong foodsmell.
Location is OK but during ramadan not only the people get more agressive but the noise from the mosque also increases (especially during the night at 4 AM). Would not recommend this hotel.

A wonderful place thanks to the love put into decorating each room in a diffent - but always very beautiful - fashion.

The service is excellent and amiable and the riad is placed in a very central location.
I enjoyed every minute of it.

The Riad is nice, room so and so. clean enough but not really. do not look under the bed ever...
the lady at the reception is nice at your arrival but then.... then i tried to pay by credit card the morning i checked out: she said there was no connection..i said i'll be back by 2 pm and then let's see. at 2 pm she said "no connection, i told you before the credit card doesn't work today..." and i replied "to who did you say that?....". she is basically a lier, didn't want to be paid by CC because Visa or whatever charge her some percentage. i always say: tell the truth.
so watch your back at the Aal Madina Riad.

Room Tip: room #29 not bad.
