The riad is very nice but... Some service people were quite accidental and were uncapable of helping in anything. We did not feel welcome. The others fortunately were better. The room was spacious but with specific smell that we were not too comfortable with. Overall clean but without that focus to details that gives a place a sense of unforgettable experience. I felt more as a client than as a guest. Hospitality on a similar level to all inclusive hotels and i would expect more in case of riad. Fortunately the owner helped us in solving some issues with the booking and girl from the staff to organize a nice trip outside of the town. In my opinion the owner should pay more attention to the place and employees because it has a great potential.

Well located. A very beautiful riad, peaceful and cosy.
Spotlessly clean. Wonderful welcoming, helpful staff. The rooftop terrace is a great place to chill and an ideal breakfast spot.
I had a fantastic stay and I will be back in Essaouira
and this very riad, Insh'alla. Big thanks to the staff,
in particular Sara, Abdullah and the breakfast lady. I would also highly recommend the restaurant next door, M'riste Jouhar.

We stayed in a number of raids on our trip, and this was by far the best. We received a warm welcome, excellent service, and helpful advice throughout. The riad is beautifully renovated, and Sara's attention to detail is exquisite, from the open log fire, to scented candles lighting the stairwells. The roof terrace has great sea views and is a perfect venue for breakfast or unwinding after a day of roaming the town. We will stay here again!

The riad is beautifully decorated in excellent taste and very well situated. The terrace is an attractive spot for breakfast when the sun is out and has a great view of the sea and the roof tops. Essaouirra is a delightful destination and suited our mixed age family party very well

The beds are comfortable and the showers hot and spacious.Despite the facility to choose a particular room, we did end up in a different one due to a hotel decision to reorganise our three room family booking. The public rooms are attractive but might struggle if all the guests decided to use them at the same time. We enjoyed the fire and the staff were helpful in getting information. I do like tea in bed in the morning so I missed the opportunity in the room to make tea or coffee which may not be the custom in Morocco.

Some renovation was in progress and we were woken by noise one morning and the structure with a small central courtyard and lots of stairs did mean that there was some noise from other guests in the morning.

We were also asked for 50% deposit by the riad which I took to be a mistake on the booking website and paid.

Room Tip: Website pictures of the rooms are good but they are all individual and equally tasteful.

We stayed in this riad for 2 nights and we absolutely loved the architecture and the room decoration/design. The riad is very quite and peaceful. The breakfast is served on the rooftop and this was a great experience as the view on Essaouira is amazing. Located in the heart of Essaouira, you can are really central. We had room "Leila" and it was a really good one. I would highly recommend this riad.

We booked into Riad al Zahia for 5 nights on family recommendation and we were not disappointed. The ensuite room was large, airy, clean and comfortable. A welcoming warm fire had been lit for our arrival (it was December!) and olives and wine were produced on the rooftop terrace so we could relax and look at the stars. Lovely owners, friendly staff, good breakfast and superb location. We will return! Thank you for a wonderful holiday.

Room Tip: Higher rooms are nearer to the lovely roof top terrace. Suites can cater for 3/4 guests. There is al...

After reading many glowing reviews I decide to book this riad, I did and received a confirmation from booking.com ( payment to be paid on arrival ) . Not long after my confirmation I received emails requesting 50% of me fee to be paid to confirm my booking. these emails were not noticed and continued with another 2 emails 3 days later requesting my 50% payment to confirm my booking. Something just didn't feel right about it so I decided to ring the hotel direct , here I find that there had been a mistake been made via the booking.com internet booking system and somehow another family booked the same room seconds/minutes earlier than my booking and that they had to honour that booking that they received 1st. The best they could do for me and my family ( 2 boys aged 12 and 10) was to give us 2 rooms ( 1 on the 1st floor the other on the 2nd floor ) for the same price or bring forward my booking a day so they could fit us into the other family room or choice number 3 2 nights wither at their alternative family room and another night with their neighbour road. I replied that I would check online and get back to them which I did .....but the more I thought about it the more angry I became. My gut feeling was that they did receive a booking for the same room for a longer period of stay and went with that over our booking which was confirmed via booking.com.......I rang Booking.com to complain and they were fantastic !! I expressed my disapointment and they followed it up while I waited and were willing to force the Riad owners to find an appropriate replacement. in which I declined the offer. Again they (owners) claimed there was another booking made moments before mine and were at a loss why it allowed my booking to be received ..........If this was the case why did I get multiple emails (one 3 days after the booking was made) requesting 50% payment fee outside the terms of my agreement with Booking.com? instead of receiving an apology for the booking mix up.
I did receive an offer after my phone call to booking.com that they have arranged another riad but I do not want to be in an environment where it could be "uncomfortable" if you get my drift.
This may be the best Riad in Morocco as other tripadvisors have stated but I cannot and will not endorse an establishment that treats me this way. I felt I was obligated to share my experience with others here. And will look forward to reading if the owners try and make an attempt to apologise here.
