“Pleasant Riad with beautiful terrace ”
Reviewed 15 August 2014 via mobile

We had a great stay at this Riad. The rooms are very big, each with a different layout and decor. Breakfast on the rooftop was a highlight. The only thing that would have improved our room would have been a window with direct access to fresh air, but overall we were very happy with our stay and would definitely recommend this as a place to stay!

We were a little disappointed. After staying in smaller riads this had more the feel of an hotel with much less of a personal service. The rooms are impressive and large but cold in February and the small heater was barely adequate. However the location is great and the view from the terrace is impressive.

We stayed for five nights on a Winter Sunshine break and were not disappointed. The Riad was quite easy to find in the old town and the staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. We had a lovely spacious room on the top floor - quiet, light and airy. There were a good few stairs to climb but that's good exercise. The breakfasts were superb - fresh orange juice, pancakes, eggs, toasted waffles, lovely bread, conserves and honey. We were able to eat in the January sunshine on the top floor terrace, thanks to a little lady who uncomplainingly carried the trays all the way up.

The Riad is well placed in a the old town, close to the ramparts and main shopping streets. There are several good restaurants nearby including one almost next door served an excellent kefta tagine. The manager gave us good advice on places to eat, including the star attraction 'Chez Sam' right on the harbour where you can eat your fresh seafood while watching the fishing vessels unloading on the quay.

Don't worry about getting there. Supratours runs an excellent bus service from Marrakech - a 3 hour journey through spectacular scenery, stopping at the Bab Marrakech, 10 minutes walk from the Riad.

Room Tip: All the rooms are similar, but the higher ones are lighter, if you can manage the stairs.

Is a typical old Moroccan riad with a beautiful fountain in the courtyard. The Rooms in the Riad are different and unique - some with fireplaces. The standard room ( we stayed in room 10) is spacious but doesnot have heating or a fireplace( in summer we wonder how is the room cooled). They did provide a small electric heater on our request but it was not sufficient to heat the big room and our request for an additional heater was politely declined. It was a cold night and we feel sick with cold/ fever after our stay here.

There is TV in the room, but did not work during our stay, but the WiFi in the room was available.

The breakfast was basic and rudimentary.

The location is nice, within the Medina near the Orson Wells plaza and the terrace in summer would be a great place to unwind.

We actually booked the place next door ,but at arrival were told that something went wrong ,but we can stay at Les terrasses for the same price.
And what a nice surprise! I think it was even better!
We got a room on the highest level ,with a window going out to the street ,but still very quiet and not smelly at all ( unfortunately the sewers in the streets were defect).
The owners and staff are very friendly and helpful. The very good breakfast gets served on the roof top terrace with a great view over the town. Say hi to the 2 tortoises crawling around and be aware of the sea gulls trying to steal food.
We had a sneaky look into other rooms and they seem to be all differently decorated - very lovely and traditional Moroccan.
Downstairs ,around the typical fountain ,you find the reception desk plus a library and seating area plus a spa (didn't have the time to go to it though).

Room Tip: Upper floor with window!

We stayed a total of five nights in this beautiful riad and enjoyed our stay greatly. Very friendly and helpful staff, nicely decorated, large and comfortable rooms and a attractive rooftop terrace to enjoy breakfast (with a big thanks to the ladies who carried our breakfast up four flights of stairs without any complaints) and a view of the bay and the surroundings!

Room Tip: We stayed in a very light, airy room (window in bedroom and bathroom) on the top floor (only one fli...
