“A beautiful place”
Reviewed 12 December 2011

I loved this place. We got a room on the top floor which has lots of natural light. Room 32 is like a honeymoon suite, very comfortable and romantic. Service is very good overall. Very sweet people in reception and the staff on the terrace serve a lovely breakfast. Make sure to ask for hot coffee so they make it fresh for you if you get up late! The terrace is lovely for breakfast in the sun but you need to wear a cardigan, shawl or light jacket as it can be a bit chilly although pleasant in December. Jonathon the seagull is always there watching each table to see if he can get to the butter dish or swipe the pain de chocolat!. He is the king of the castle and yet is quite polite! We kind of missed him when we left. There is plenty of hot water in the bathroom, the shower is lovely! There was some restoration happening on the top floor, room 31 has a view of the sea which will be lovely when the room is finished. It seems to be the only one with a view so it will cost more. Service in the bar is slow and the fireplace a bit dismal as the chimney is not working properly but the room is beautiful and pleasant to be in. Great location for the medina and easy access to the beach. Overall a wonderful stay and I would definitely come back!

Room Tip: Room 31 has lots of light. Room 32 has a view of the sea. Both are on the top floor.

The Dar L'oussia is a little paradies located in the Medina. A peaceful and quiet riad, a splendid roofterrace where you can enjoy a delicious lunch or have a sundowner and fairy-like rooms - wait for you!
An absoulut must: cooking lessons with Samira! She showed us some secrets of the Maroccan cuisine!
Alain and his team are wonderful hosts, they treated us like friends! Thank you for the great time!

Fantastic hotel that ticked every box for me. From the simple but lovely breakfast on the terrace overlooking the sea to wonderful service and food at dinner and everything in between. The room was clean and comfortable with lovely touches (windows - they're clever!) and they replaced my water every day with no charge and never failed to clean my room.
The staff who were on the front desk were always smiling and never struggled to answer my never-ending questions in both french and english. Just one thing, if you don't want to be woken by the call to prayer at 7 in the morning then remember to close the windows...
If you're going to Essaouira, stay at Dar L'Oussia.

Room Tip: If you want internet in the room then ask for a room no higher than the first floor.

We stayed HB and preferred to have lunch as we arrived. Our order was all mixed up but Alain, the manager, took notice of our discontent and invited us for dinner on the house. A nice and appropriate gesture.
The rooms were beautiful but after locking our room when going out, we discovered that our room had only windows to the patio and couldn't overcome the strange sewage smell. Since no room overlooking the alley was available, we were upgraded to the suite.
Please take note of the special photos in the dining area. Breakfast on the roof was wonderful !
In short, problems may occur but will not leave a bad aftertaste if properly handled by the management.
Chapeau to Alain !

Room Tip: Insist on having a room overlooking the alley for good ventilation.
