“A beautiful place in a beautiful town”
Reviewed 27 November 2009

We arrived after a big trip, weary from the trip. The town was busy and as we walked the little streets we didnot know waht to expect. Entered a small door and then: wauw, what a beautiful room. A tremendous view over the city walls and the ocean. you could open the window and it was like sitting in the ocean. All night the sound of the see is great.
A very, very pretty and big bathroom. The room had even a flatscreen and it workes!
The breakfast is good on the covered rooftop, a knew restaurant that still needed some decoration, but the were working on it when we were leaving. The city is very easy and beautiful. Many restaurants and very good to explore on your own. There is even a beautiful beach to make long strolls.
Go there please! and don't forget to eat fish near the harbour at Chez Sam, ask for the route, it is near the hotel and very, very good! It is almost at the end of the real harbour, great lobster for a great price.

Riad Mimouna was a an unexpected treat! The riad we initially booked in Essaouira was horrible and after 2 nights with another 6 to go we were desparate to find a better place to stay and enjoy beautiful Essaouira. We walked in to Riad Mimouna by chance and fell in love. It is a big riad with 32 rooms but as it is an old house and decorated wonderfully in a traditional way, it in no way feels like ahotel or impersonal. Our room 204 was big with 2 huge windows that opened straight on to the sea and the waves crashing below with wonderful views accross the ocean. It was decorated beautifully with a small but clean bathroom. the room was servied immaculately every day, (modcons featured a safe and TV with some satellite chanells which was quite fun late at night to watch. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was generous (tea/coffe, fresh orange jiuce, yogurt, croissants, bread, crepes, jam, honey and cheese) and service on the roof terrace with 360 degree views of the sea and the town or in the huge conservatory with florr to ceiling windows over the sea.

We had a peak at the suit and it was gorgeous, really luxurious!

Staff were efficient and some were friendly, others polite. I highly recommend this riad and would not hesitate to return.

although it is tucked away a bit, it is perfectly safe to walk to at night and worth it for the peacefulness and the views.

Very nice hotel directly at the city gate facing the sea. Interior of lobby and rooms is very nice in a morrocian style. Staff is very kind and helpful. You will have breakfast on the roof with beautiful view on the wild Atlantic Ocean. I recommend to book a room with sea view, it's worth it! We stayed for six nights: a good and quiet basis to discover the marvellous city Essaouira.

Riad Mimouna is breathtakingly situated right on the ramparts of the old medina. If you happen to have a junor suite on the corner, you get a beautiful seaview on two sides, but all the other seaview rooms are wonderful.
The rooms are clean, everything is working, but above all: it all is very beautiful and tasteful.
When you enter it is like you enter a palace from another age. The staff are all very correct, friendly and helpful, & breakfast on the roof terrace overlooking the blue sea is a treat.

This is such a wonderful riad. It is within the medina, but right on the water. The waves crash right against the outer wall of the medina. Inside, it is decorated like an old palace, more beautiful than many of the tourist sites we've been to in Morocco. The rooms are very clean and stylish, and the bathrooms are beautifully tiled with marble sinks. Breakfast is wonderful, and it is served on the roof overlooking the sea. The only drawback is in the location. It is a bit out of the center of the medina, down some unfrequented streets, so if you are traveling alone, you may be a bit uncomfortable with the walk. That said, we had no trouble at all and felt safe throughout.

This Riad had excellent views of the sea and the rooms where big, comfortable and clean. The only problems where the suite we stayed in did not have a shower just a hand held shower head attached to the bath taps. Also after booking the accommodation we became a little concerned about the safety of the location after reading some info in the lonely planet guide, when we asked reception they where unable to give us a straight answer but stressed that we should walk a certain designated way home and avoid certain streets - so hard to say for sure but if I was a single female traveler I would recommend you stay in a more central location in the Medina.
