We stayed for two nights. Upon arrival, I was delighted with the Riad - clean, chic, calm and the staff were really friendly. However, we chose badly with the room, which was right next to reception. It meant that we had the noise from the dining room at all hours and people walking past. It is a very small room, with only a curtain separating the shower area from the sleeping area, so there is very little privacy. The loo, however, does have a door, but it backs on to the loo in reception, so you can hear flushing and so on whenever it is used.
Breakfast was lovely. The standard of cleanliness was very good, except on the terraces where the seagulls have left their mark!
Reliable wifi.
Great access to the sights of Essaouira.
I would say that this is a great place to stay, but choose your room carefully.

Room Tip: Do not choose a room on the ground floor!

Dear,

Thanks to write but it's better to ask immédiately if there something when you are in riad to find solution together.
There arre a true probleme with seagulls in Essaouira this year, we cleaned everytime, many time the day... we try to find solution.
Come and see les jartdins d argane, the other guest house, at 10 mn of essaouira : no seagulls.
Best regards

We stayed one night in Riad Asmitou , at the end of our journey through Morocco. Ans though, we wanted to stay in beautiful and peaceful hotel to rest.

Hotel interiors is nice, our room nr.2 was beautiful, a little worn out but still very nice. Beds and linels are fine, bathroom was lovely.

During the day one can forget to rest or sleep in this room. There is constant noise coming from street and hotel staff can also get a bit loud. This aspect was real annoyance.
During the night, the staff was quite, but noise from the street seems to be on going. And was bothering us all the time.

In the morning, you can easly hear people from other rooms conversating. So we got little sleep.

Staff is really friendly and warm. And they were helpful.

Food (we only had breakfast) was good. Thumbs up.

What disturbed me as well was terrace full of seagul fieces - I know there are a lot of seaguls but it can easly be cleaned. And tables in lobby and place where they serve breakfast could also be cleaned from time to time.

To sum up: hotel is very nice with lovely staff. Food is good. Hotel location is also good. Real disturbance is noise from the street and dirty terrace. This is why I am giving 3,5/5.

Dear,

We are sorry that you didn"t sleep the morning.
All riads in the medina have little noise outside, the médina is a town, people live outside. and the riad asmitou is in one of back street not in a main street.
If you ask to reception, they can propose you and other possibilities, room upstair or our guest house but in countryside.
You speak about dirty terrace, every morning the terrace cleaned but we have a lot of bird, and its not easy.
Each six months we repainte all the room in the riad and fro the terrace each 3 months.
Thanks you to have made this letter.

The hotel is easy to locate, and has a decent location as well( bit dirty outside the hotel - but clean inside). The hotel itself is traditional and the room we stayed in was beautiful and very clean. The staff is very nice, polite and helpful. Service quality is excellent. Breakfast served was good according to Moroccan standards. The only reason I cannot give this place 5 stars or 4 is because I could never get any sleep. The rooms have very poor sound proofing. You can hear someone riding his bicycle outside in the middle of the night and people walking. Forget the 1000 other noise that is always there. If this sound issue can be taken care of even 50 % then this place is the Riad to pick in Essaouira. The value for money is great, but if you cannot sleep in peace, who cares how much money you save !

Bonjour,

My daughter and I visited here recently for 5 nights. It was a nice experience for us. They have an excellent male manager who is helpful and brought us our breakfast every morning either on the roof top terrace or in the cozy dining room. The rooms, dining room have an artistic design with beautiful lighting. The breafasts are very nice. You can get to the shopping areas and beach very easily through the alleyway which is a real authentic experience (Alleyway can be noisy at night). Alleyway if full of tailors and tiny businesses and is kind of dirty but very interesting. The hotel is budget friendly but is pretty. We went on a wonderful 2 hour camel ride at the other end of the beach for a very reasonable price. Lots of folks were riding horses, too. Some surfers. The beach is beautiful here and gets better and you hike away from the town!!! Get a cart man from the bus stop to help you with your luggage!

I just recently come back from Morocco and would like to recommend Riad Asmitou to all of you who looks for unique place to stay in Essaouira. Recently renovated makes a magnificent impression! Very friendly and professional staff members makes you feel very welcome and helps with anything you need. Standard of the rooms and hotel's facilities is very good. If you also look for something to do in Essaouira, you are in the right place as Riad Asmitou through Camel Agency can organize lots of different activities to make your time in Morocco special; I personally recommend camel ride or, if you want to see a real Morocco, visit to a local market called Had Dra. Riad is in a prefect location and also serves very good food.

Room Tip: rooms on the top floor give you good opportunity to enjoy a panoramic view over medina

Traveling with college aged daughter and had one night in beautiful Essaouria so chose this riad based on recommendation from owner of riad we were staying at in Marrakesh. Booked beginning of October through booking.com and when I emailed riad week before trip to confirm, both email addresses for this place were either not found or inbox was full.

When we checked in Christmas day at noon the clerk served us mint tea while looking into our arrangements. She soon told us that a family was coming in that evening and needed that room, but she would take us to another riad they worked with down the street who had a larger room for the same price and then we could make our choice. After viewing the room at the Asmitou (only room on top floor by sun terrace- looked very nice and well kept and had 2 beds- that is why I booked it specifically), we were led to another riad a few minutes away to see what they had to offer. The room was larger, but the rooftop terrace area not as nice and it being a beautiful day I wanted to enjoy some Christmas warmth. We told the clerk thank you , but we would like to say at Asmitou as originally planned .Apparently we really did not have a choice as she earlier stated and she again explained that a family was coming in. We'd wasted enough time of our one day over this so we said fine we'd stay at the other riad (which ended up being a great choice on our part).

After she left , the clerk at the new riad said that this was atypical and not a a very nice think to do to travelers. We felt like we had been "dumped". However, we did realize the clerk at Asmitou was only carrying out what she was instructed to do by the owner so I really can't fault her for this. She handled it the best she knew how.

Someone at Asmitou should have communicated this last minute change in plans to us prior to our arrival. For the way this whole situation was handled, I can't recommend booking here.
