I've stayed in Dar Afram about three times already and probably will in the future as well. It's a cute place, a bit like a youth hostel in Moroccan style. Most rooms are pretty spacious and definitely very clean, bathrooms are all shared. It locates in the medina, right next to the sea, you can see it from the rooftop terrace. The price includes a breakfast which is very traditional and plentiful. By traditional i don't mean youth hostel traditional toast and milk, no no, i mean Moroccan breakfast - bread, tea, orange juice, honey, olives, jam etc. The owners are a son-dad combo of Australian/Moroccan ethnicity, there's a strong musical vibe in the house because the father has/had a band and they both play an instrument. It's not a budget place though, and also not a traditional riad, like i said before - it's more like a cozy youth hostel with a Moroccan flare. An amazing riad tucked away at the back of the main square. Run by an Aussie/Moroccan with a penchant for acoustic guitar. The rooms are spacious and clean, atmosphere chilled and friendly and the food great. Evening meal is available on request nightly. A group usually gathers for evening meal around candlelit tables. There's lot's of chatter and a bit of guitar strumming by the owner. A youngish crowd but anyone would feel welcome. Upstairs there's a roof terrace with amazing views over the town. I came for 2 nights and stayed 8!

My boyfriend and I went to Morocco for 2 weeks during Sepember 2008.
After doing a desert tour, and going back to Marrakesh, we wanted to get away from the hussle and bussle of Marrakesh as soon as possible, and even though we had only booked pre booked for one night, we rang them up to ask if we could come the next day and there was no problem.

We paid a guy to show us to the Riad from the bus shop, and he took our bags in his card. Taz wasn't there when we arrived, but one of the girls showed us to our room and we settled ourselfs in.

I would also say that it's more of a backpackers than a Riad, but it was fine for us. The bathroom/shower (shared) was right next to our room so that was handy, although it could have been cleaner and a floor matt for the shower would have been great!

Our room was plenty big enough with couches around the walls, a coffee table and a mattress bed on the floor. Nice and tidy. There is two roof top areas with a great view of the coast and the other buildings around. Great to just chill out in the sun. Down stairs there is nice area for eating or you can take it to your room, or the roof top.
First night we ate out with some friends at a really great place right out side the door (how handy is that!) and for the second night I had organised a dinner for my boyfriend for his birthday. Taz organised everything. The food was brilliant and he asked how I wanted everything and what time. He even organised a cake with my boyfriends name free of charge, and came out playing "Happy Birthday" on his gitar.

Such a great place to stay, with a really relaxed and cruzie vibe. Great way to meet people as well, as because it has more of a backpacker feel alot of the guests are easy going, and we hang out with some playing cards, drinking and listening to music.
I would deffanitly recomment if you are wanting something in a great location, cheap and easy going.

More of a backpacker / shared room place (at least when busy?) than a true riad, but non the worse for that.
As a solo traveller I found the friendly welcome and group suppers just what I wanted. Congratulations to the girls in the kitchen for producing the best tagine I had during my three weeks in Morocco.
Rooms clean and simple with shared bathroom facilities.
