We stayed here for a night, en route from Merzouga back to Marrakech. The hotel was fine for our purposes, though it could improve in three areas:

- the rooms were hotter than they needed to be - we had to open the window to get a comfortable night's sleep

- our room faced on to a rear courtyard where staff were coming and going throughout the night, banging a loud door

- the service at breakfast was the worst aspect. It was supposed to be served from 7am: we arrived shortly after that without any obvious sign of preparations going on apart from a Julie Walters "two soups" style waiter pottering around doing not very much. When there was no sign of any food by 7.30 we gave up and went out to explore the local countryside - we ate a late breakfast of cakes and coffee at the patisserie a few doors up.

On the plus side, the reception staff were friendly and helpful, the hotel is very centrally placed in Ifrane, has on-site car parking, and a colony of Lesser Kestrels nesting on the roof. The hotel was also inexpensive - they had a promotion on which saved us about £20 compared to the price on the web.

Also, beware of the "official town guide" who kept pestering us every time he saw us in the town square.

As someone else has said, this hotel provides basic, clean accomodation at an affordable price, in a central position. We found that the breakfast service was poor on the first day (staff forgot whether we'd asked for tea or coffee, entered us into their system as outside clients even though we'd told them we were staying at the hotel, and then didn't know how to change the record - which meant we paid a higher price for the breakfast) - so on the second day we went out for breakfast at one of the cafés very close by, and had a much better breakfast for half the price. Maintenance could be better as well: one light in the bedroom didn't work, and the light fitting over the sink in the bathroom was broken and hanging down over the mirror. Little things which create a bad impression but are easy to put right, with better staff training and supervision.
Clients, at least during our stay; seemed about half and half Moroccans and foreigners (independent, not package hols).

We have booked a 4 nights stay but once there, we asked to visit the rooms because to hotel looked a bit old and "sad". The rooms looked like hospital rooms and the bathroom wasn't appealing either...we decided to cancel the booking and look for another hotel.

I stayed in the Chamonix after reading reviews for all of the hotels in Ifrane and finding that none were great, except the luxury hotel that wanted $250/night per room (we needed 2 rooms to accomodate 4 adults and 2 children). The Chamonix is in a great location in central Ifrane walking distance to cafes and restaurants, waterfalls/hiking trails, and the Al Akhawayn campus.

The rooms were basic but clean, with hot showers. Rooms were overheated and a fair amount of street light came in, but it was otherwise quiet and we checked in advance to make sure the nightclub was not operational that night. They did not have baby cribs available. The lobby was a bit dated but had some great antique pieces, and service perfectly friendly. I'd recommend this hotel for someone looking for basic, clean accomodations at an affordable price, but nothing fancy.
