Longterm Pemba expats know the situation well: there's about five to ten places you can go to, hang out and forget a bit the hazzles of everyday. The recently re-opened Italian 'Por do Sol' (after being closed for more than 5 years) definitely reduced that lack of oportunities. The place: sitting at the terrace at the end of Wimbe beach you can overlook the beachline with its nowadays constantly increasing lights. From the two lighthouses indicating the entrance to the worlds third largest bay to the west until Pedro's (private) place in the east. Warm summer nights dining at the beach. There is hardly a better place. The food: Very good Italian, but extraordinary for Pemba. And: mostly quick! The staff: mostly well trained, proactive and polite. Name a second place in Pemba, that's got the three of those! ;-)
