“No room at the guesthouse - but what an alternative!!”
Reviewed 29 November 2009

We were disappointed that the guesthouse was full, but Peter the owner offered us one of their self-catering apartments as an alternative..............wow! It really was fantastic.

The Atlantic Sicht is a 3 bed garden apartment in a block opposite the beach. We had the whole place to ourselves, which did seem a bit of a waste for just the two of us, but we weren't complaining!!

It is decorated like a show home in a magazine - absolutely stunning. There are supermarkets about a 5 min walk away, so able to get provisions for breakfasts, which you can enjoy while looking out to the seaview.

A lovely patio area and garden for sundowners, and 5 minute walk from The Tug seafood restaurant, and about 8 minutes from everywhere else.

There is a huge garage, and the whole block is very safe and secure - full of affluent residents.

We spent 3 nights here and could have easily stayed longer. The apartment would be a top spot to stay if there are a group of you.

The only down side (if there has to be a downside) is that the apartment is just so lovely that you worry in case you damage anything..............so would not recommend if for anyone who has young kids in tow........you really wouldn't want to be cleaning stains off the white leather sofa!!

We ate at the German alehouse in town - fabulous host (though forget his name) - and superb Eland steak. Good value and tasty pasta at Nonnas.

Best fun - dune surfing!! Also enjoyed the quad bikes. And a magical kayaking trip with Francois (OpenWater kayak tours Walvis Bay - can book through the tourist office) - magical to be paddling out there with numerous dolphins and seals.

We didn't have time - but heard good reports about the Sandwich Harbour tour and the Desert tour - 'the little five'.

Swapokmund is definitely worth the trip, and Altantic Sicht was a 5 star stop.

We had a 14 day tour of Namibia, with 11 nights under canvas. I chose the Cornerstone because of Trip Advisor reviews. I wanted a couple of nights of comfort before we returned to the tents. Peter and Margo were perfect hosts, booking restaurants for dinner and also car hire. In addition they had our laundry washed, ironed and returned all on a Sunday.Nothing was too much trouble.

The room was smart, clean, and tastefully decorated, there was also a mini bar with cold drinks available. The bathroom had a powerful shower, which was certainly needed!

Breakfast was a mixture of self service with eggs etc cooked to order. Starched linen table cloths and a wonderfully decorated lounge.

It is truly 5* accommodation and at a fraction of the cost. It will be your loss to choose elsewhere!

Everything about Cornerstone is perfect from the immaculate rooms to the attractive garden and excellent breakfast. Margo has the most wonderful way with colour. Really good to see after days in the desert! And it's in a perfect location for walking to anywhere in the town and to the sea front. As everyone says owners Margo and Peter are the icing on the cake. They ended up taking all kinds of messages for us - from car rental firms, taxi drivers etc and quietly and efficiently sorted everything out for us. Margo recommended a lovely beach bar to watch the sun set and we had a fascinating conversation with Peter about Namibia's history. Swakopmund was a great little place too. We ate at the Tug and the Grapewine - both excellent - and spend a happy afternoon at the fascinating town museum and pottering round the shops. So both Swakopmund and the Cornerstone come highly recommended.

Highlight here here the superb service provided by Peter and Margo where nothing was too much trouble from recommending and booking restaurant tables to arranging excursions. We were staying for two nights in one of the five rooms available (unfortunately full for the third night). Room was immaculate, very clean and everything was pristine. The rooms are spead around the property each with its own patio plus table & chairs overlooking a lovely garden. Plenty of space around the bedroom plus large bathroom with walk in shower. Complementary tea coffee and biscuits are provided and a fridge with mini bar is also available in the room.

Breakfast the next morning was excellent with wide selection to cater for most tastes. There is also secure car parking on site.

Internet access is available although on a cost basis.

Plenty of restaurant options in town. Our two favoured meals were at De Kelders, an Afrikaans style restaurant which provides great quality food and The Tug on the Waterfront.

For us the accomodation which was excellent was only surpassed by the owners who want to make your stay as special as possible.

We stayed for two nights in Cornerstone Guesthouse in Swako. The rooms are nice and clean and breakfast is good.
But for sure the best thing was Margo and Peter advise and help in anything we asked them. They were helpful and incredibly kind. A really good choice in Swakopmund.

We loved every minute of our stay at Peter's and Margo's guesthouse. I couldn't think of any detail that could be improved! The hosts were charming and very friendly and made us feel at home. The rooms are lovely, the setting is just perfect. Probably the best accomodation I stayed at. Thumbs up, 100 percent perfect!!

A warm welcome awaited us at Cornerstone. The owners were eager to please and the accommodation did not disappoint: clean, comfortable rooms with brilliant breakfasts - freshly cooked and wide choice. The guesthouse is handy for Swakop's restaurants and the beach, in a quiet area with secure parking. Attention to detail by the owners really makes this place.
