The location is a bit out of town, in a residential area still under development, but it is near a nice beach and a local restaurant.
We were booked in a luxury room, but only got a side sea view and a small balcony, so that did not feel very luxury. The room however is large with a big bathroom (bath and shower) and all the amenities, as well as large TV and Nespresso machine (big bonus).
The property is scattered along 2 buildings, there is a small pool and a few large lounges areas, with a honesty bar.
They offer a buffet breakfast and hot breakfast on order, which was really good.
The reception staff is friendly and knows the area, what to do and can book different attractions.
All in all it is a nice place to stay for 1 or 2 nights but there is nothing special to it and it does not reflect Namibia at all, you could be anywhere in the world.

Room Tip: Our luxury room did not give us any luxury feelings so I do not know what the standard room is like. Maybe rather request a large full facing sea view if you want some luxury. Also request a room not on the pool/breakfast side as you get the noise and smell of the restaurant in your room.

We stayed at the Atlantic during a hot period, no AC or no fans, it was two very warm nights.

Good facilities, good bar, breakfast quite OK, but a bit disorganised.

Rooms very spacious and well appointed.

Wow!! First of all, my partner and I arrived early in the afternoon, we had been booked in to a twin suite up several flights of stairs, which would have been ok, we would not have complained, but the very helpful and friendly people at reception changed our room so that we could have a double right where we have an uninterrupted view of the Atlantic from our window and patio. The beach is just across the small carpark outside. Lying on the bed watching and listening to the sea is just beautiful and relaxing. Close the patio door and the sea noise is gone.
Now for the room. Modern fixtures and fittings with white, sand and teal colour decor, 50inch DSTV, Nespresso machine (must figure out how to work one of those things now), reliable and free Internet access, incredibly comfortable king sized bed, very soft pillows. Bathroom is very modern and behind the half height room divider created by the bed-head. Toilet in one space with sliding, half frosted glass door, then in next space is large basin, good mirror and a few nice toiletries, large shower with massive rainhead in the last space. Patio outside with two comfortable chairs and table. Can just jump over small wall to get on to the beach - though the wall is alarmed 7pm to 7am so no jumping over then!
If all that wasn't enough, my partner just asked if there was any fridge in the room as we checked in - there wasn't. About 30 minutes later there was a knock at the door and a fridge was delivered!!! We will now be able to keep the African wines nice and cold so we can drink them on the patio in the sun while watching the waves hit the shore just 50m or so away.
Haven't tried any other facilities yet (there is a piano bar and breakfast room) and I usually don't post on TripAdvisor until the end of a stay, but I was so impressed with this place I had to post now. Glad to be here for five nights over Christmas!! Definitely recommend it so far!!

Well appointed rooms with all the comforts and high tech lighting. The walls are a bit thin so noise from neighbors comes through easily, especially from those massive flat screens in the room. I did not quite get the hang of the tap and sink configuration as one could barely get your hands under the tap. Seems like a last minute design change that went wrong. The main house is comfortable and the fireplace comes in really handy on those cold and foggy afternoons. Free Wifi works really well. Nights can be humid so an air conditioner would be welcome. Owner should watch out for future mildew problems as there is also no extractor in shower and bathroom. Many thanks to staff that helped secure a last minute booking on a desert tour when my original booking dropped me (see my review of Living Desert Tours). The hotel is about 6 km away from the heart of Swakopmund so a car might be needed. They do have shuttle buses at a nominal fee and most tour operators pick you up from your hotel anyway. Right across the road from the popular Wreck Restaurant.

Swakopmund has to be one of the most weirdly located places in the world. A bit like Dubai or Las Vegas in that the city IS the destination. There is nothing, apart from desert and ocean for 100 miles in any direction.

That said, Swakopmund is an incredible place. It's tidy, it has proper roads in and leading to and from. It is apparently popular with German retirees and there are lots of quite obviously high-end villas and apartments being built and already in existence.

Swakopmund is as close as you'll get to a properly run city in Africa. Apart from the sandy streets you might be in Europe. I wish we'd spent another day or two in the local area. There is a lot to do in terms of adventure sports but the kids had to settle for a camel ride.

The accommodation itself was very high tech. A control centre for temperature control, lighting, music etc. The huge showers were very popular. Breakfast was excellent also and the staff couldn't have been more helpful in suggesting places to eat and shop and also helping us find an orthodentist when one of the kids had an issue with their braces. An orthodentist? In Africa? Swakopmund probably has the only one in a 2,000 mile radius.
