Sandfields Guesthouse
Ranked #5 of 50 Swakopmund B&B and Inns
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 31 January 2011

Sandfields is not just a B&B, but a home away from home. We usually stay in hotels, but I'm very glad we made an exception and stayed at Sandfields. Very nicely decorated spacious rooms with modern comfortable beds and ensuite bathrooms. The rooms are quiet and private, some even have a fire place. The breakfast is 5 star with a large fresh buffet and choice of delicious hot food. The greatest asset of Sandfields is it's super friendly and professional manager, Jean, who has worked in tourism for many years and can give you valuable advice for your further travels or safari. They also have a huge amount of travel books and photo's in their cozy living room for guests. Swakopmund is a gem on the desert coast of Namibia and staying at Sandfields will definitely make your stay even more wonderful.

Stayed for one night while travelling through Namibia. Terrific public spaces with lots of books, art and information about local activities, pretty garden area and large, comfortable rooms with fireplaces. Jean kindly made reservations for us for both lunch and dinner, choosing restaurants with local flair. Close to beach and a beautiful walk into town along the shore. Thoroughly enjoyed our short stay and would recommend to friends.

A nice stay with helpful, pleasant hosts.

You will definitely need your own wheels to get into town, else it is a fairly long walk. That's really the only downside.

a family run little B&B with spacious and comfortable rooms near the beach. My family and I stayed three nights and had a great time here. The couple who runs the place really went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. They even lent us a baby cot for our child when we went away for a couple of nights!
The breakfast buffet is excellent; better than the one we found in other, more expensive lodges in Namibia. WIFI available.
Definitely one to recommend to our friends!

We were on a self-drive tour of Namibia and were glad that the tour operator suggested Sandfields. It is a superb place to stay, one block back from the seafront and within 20 minutes walk to town ... or a N$40 taxi ride. Sandfields is in a pleasant part of town and has secure parking. The house is spotless and the rooms are both spacious and very well appointed. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, the bathroom large and pleasant with both a bath tub and shower. There was a TV (which we didn't use), a kettle with tea / coffee making facilities etc. One useful thing was the array of plug adaptors for travellers.

The breakfasts were outstanding, having a large selection for the continental breakfast which was complemented by a well-presented and tasty hot course of your choice.

There was an incredible array of information on local activities in the lounge. We were collected by Turnstone Tours for a superb trip to the dunes at Walvis Bay. The Springbok steak in Kucki's pub is really good, whereas The Tug has superb food and a pleasant ambience. Food for two with a glass of wine came to £33.

Hosts Jean and Richard were both accommodating and affable. We wished that we had chosen to stay 3 nights in order to take fuller advantage of both Sandfields and Swakopmund.

We would return without hesitation!

The Sandfields Guesthouse in Swakopmund was a lovely and relaxing place to stay as part of our trip around Namibia. We received a very friendly welcome and were given help and advice about where to eat and where to go. Spotlessly clean, the ensuite bedrooms had everything you could wish for including a cafetiere with ground coffee and homemade cookies, as well as hairdryer, TV and safe. Breakfast was generous with a good choice of breads, cereals and yoghurts, as well as the option of a cooked breakfast. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The hosts allowed us to use their internet, though it felt awkward having to ask and would have been useful if this service had been available in the public area for guest to use freely. The lounge was well stocked with books and tourist information and also included an honesty bar, should you want it. Car parking was available in the security of the forecourt. Small and friendly, this was the perfect place to stay for a few nights whilst exploring the Swakopmund area. Thoroughly recommended.
