The campsite in Damaraland is still being built and as a result there are not many facilities available, however the rates are N$120pppn which was extremely poor value as this was the same rate being offered by other campsites with more facilities. The funny thing is that the camp was deserted when we got there but an upfront payment was still demanded.

Each campsite has a braai pit, NO POWER and a donkey to heat up the water. We had to move after the first night as the donkey was not working. Firewood is available at N$25per bundle. There are no other facilities so one advantage is that you do feel you are a bit in the wild.

There are lots of animal tracks around including elephant spoor but not sure if the desert elephants actually visit the campsite any more - we didn't see any. Also, if you do stay here, be careful especially at night as we found a small white scorpion (the poisonous kind) around our campsite.

No electricity (sorry, bro, no fuel for generator), water just barely lukewarm (if lukewarm at all), personnel completely uncapable (bro, just take any place you want), but didnt forget to take vouchers from us in the morning. Dry riverbed is really not romantic. And it was empty. Probably worsest campsite experience so far

What an amazing surprise - pulling into this campsite in the middle of the desert we couldn't believe our eyes. Private campsites environmentally fitted to the site, each with their own tree canopy, groomed sand, private bathroom and outdoor kitchen. The staff are friendly and interesting, the location spectacular, and a bull elephant came to visit in the morning! If I'm ever in Namibia again, I'll be back.

Madisa is a very nice campsite located next to a currently dry river bed and beautiful rock formations. Each camp site has its own open-air shower and bathroom built on stilts. We stayed two nights and were very surprised to be visited each night by one of the wild desert elephants. What a fantastic and unforgettable experience to hear this animal cracking trees next to your tent! The owner is very friendly and can give you lots of information. He even took us on a game drive to view our nightly visitor and also other wild animals that roam the area. We had a fantastic stay at Madisa and will definitely be back!

Madisa campsite is a fantastic place to camp in Damaraland. It has all the necessary amenities, great bathrooms with a fantastic veiw. The swimming pool is really unusual but very welcome after the hot dusty trip. each campsite has a veiw of the riverbed and has electricity and water is heated with a donkey. loved the place and will be back!
