“Overrated, impersonal”
Reviewed 23 November 2012 via mobile

My wife and I stayed here recently. On arrival nobody took our cases, nobody welcomed us and the whole atmosphere seemed very 'businesslike' and very very impersonal. We came on our Honeymoon and were bitterly disappointed with the level of service.
The rooms are clean and spacious.

If you are wanting a great hotel in Swakopmund, then you can't go past the Swakopmund Hotel. I was really surprised and pleased by the quality of this hotel. Be warned the hotel seems to book out about a 1 month in advance, so book early. The hotel had a beautiful food platter in the room as a with comps, and provided a very fast wireless internet service free. I highly recommend this hotel. My room on level 2, had a lounge chair and was very spacious.

Room Tip: Get a room on the second floor, they have nice views over the pool.

Beautiful old building and really comfortable accomodaton situated in Swakopmund. close to the town so easy walking to all the local shops. The town itself was clean and free of any layabouts. Lots of good photo opportunites with the surronding architecture. The staff were warm and friendly, breakfast was excellent, lunch mediocre.

Swakopmund Hotel is far the best hotel to stay in Swakopmund. Beautiful building, old railway station, colonial style. Elegant, stylish, good service, excellent food and very well located. Pool and gardens extremely clean and well done.
One night only is too short, I advise 2 nights stay.

Room Tip: I prefer the balcony rooms, there are only 6, the view to the garden and pool is beautiful, very pri...

My wife and I spent two nights at the classic Swakopmund hotel in August and we were most impressed with the facility. The old railway station has been converted into an elegant hotel which reflects aspects of early colonial life. The rooms were spacious and well maintained and are built around an expansive courtyard complete with pool. Short walk into the town centre. Staff were professional and pleasant. Free internet should you require it. The lavish dining room caters for all tastes and the breakfast is extensive complete with oysters if you wish. Drinks are moderately priced.
This hotel is well worth your consideration.

Room Tip: Some of the rooms at the right hand end of the wing are quite a distance from the restaurant.

This hotel has curb appeal. It is situated in a quiet area just off the center of Swakopmund. The building looks like an old train station but don't let that deter you from staying there. The lobby is welcoming and the staff very accomodating. Our room was located on the first floor. Although the room was comfortable and clean, it wasn't particularly fashionable. We had no view except a security wall or fence that surrounded that side of the building. While I felt safe, I would have liked to have a better view. The breakfast was excellent with individually prepared eggs daily. The breads and pastries were also tasty.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the pool or interior courtyard.

This is a typical "three star"hotel of a bigger chain, it does not matches the personal service levels you would get from privately owned lodges in the neighbourhood.Although the view on the interior garden and pool is very pritty, the rooms are plain and need some refurbishment. The hotel is situated in the middle of Swakopmund,a town I would not recommend to visit.Good breakfast, although service could be improved
