Sea Breeze encompasses the best of Namibian hospitality: warmth, simplicity, professionalism. Granted, the place is a bit out of the centre, but so is 80% of Swakop’s accommodation, and this is Namibia where, like or not, it is difficult to really enjoy your holiday without a car (whose rental is quite cheap anyway).

But back to this lovely guesthouse: first, the response to my booking request by email was super-quick and friendly. Then, on the actual day of arrival, we were greeted with a welcome tea/coffee by the hosting family, who asked us if we needed any assistance in any of the spots we wanted to visit, the restaurants we wanted to eat at, etc. Then we were shown to your room, in our case a huuuuge family suite, complete with a fully equipped kitchen, just for the two of us - quite cool! We also had an immense bathroom, possibly fit for a mobility impaired person, which is a nice touch. Breakfast was as flawless as the rest of the services. And, as I should mention it, the price was right, too.

Some people might feel put off by the choice of a grey/earthy paint tone over the outside walls, when the weather in Swakop is already quite often on the grey side, but personally we liked this minimalistic/Bauhaus option that blends well with the general style of the latest buildings in town (which obviously Sea Breeze is part of). And if you are in need of some green spot, the newest wing does have a patio with a small garden, to break this mineral monopoly, as it were.

The only tiny issue I would have with Sea Breeze is one that unfortunately runs through most Namibian guesthouses in urban settings: the parking area is definitely on the cramped side and, even with a half full house as it was, you spend 10 mn manoeuvering in and out of the car park. I even dented my bumper in the process against a column (my fault, not the guesthouse’s, I am not pointing any fingers here! ). Again, it is not specific to Sea Breeze, but I always wonder why in such a huge, empty country, guesthouses always end up piling up 5 cars within 40 sqm! (I know, security issues + high real estate prices, but still… ).

Thank you for all the compliments and wonderful review about Sea Breeze.
About the parking space, we know that our parking lot is the spaciest of all the guesthouses in Swakopmund, but we must admit we would have liked it even bigger and to have big enough parking for the rooms you have is sometimes a challenge.
We know also that when you drive a big double cab vehicle with an enclosed canopy it is even more difficult but next time ask us we are more than willing to help.

We stayed here in February 2014 and the place and owners were lovely. We stayed in the family room and knowing that we had a baby with us, they set up a crib and had a baby bathtub ready for us in the room when we arrived. They also had a highchair for us to use. It certainly made our travel with a baby easier. The owners were always friendly and gave us no-pressure options of where to go and where to eat. The rooms were immaculate; you could eat off of those floors! We loved it here and would stay there again if we were in Swakop. Loved it!

Thank you very much for the effort to write a review in English. That was our pleasure and privilege to help you. It take sometimes a small thing to ruin your holiday, like a cell phone charger and you depending on it to find your way through a new destination. I am glad that we were able to help you out.

My purpose in visiting Swakopmund was to experience the down town area which has many very good restuarants, hotels, interesting museum, self-contained for walking around, and a strong German heritage, influence. Due to errors or lack of thorough planniing on the part of two travel agents (South African Airways Vacations and Tour d' Afrique) I was put in the Sea Breeze Guesthouse which is in a residential area; was traveling solo and no car. This property is great if you do not want to experience Swakopmund. After I complained to the Tour d' Afrique agent in Windhoek, a "windshield" tour by auto was arranged. The following day I paid a local guide to pick me up, take me on a walking tour of the town, and drop me off at the airport. So.........travelers check where your travel agents book you, and if not convenient to where you want to be or sites you want to see, change before you depart on your trip. In retrospect I should have refused to stay, and paid for a hotel down town suitable for my travel needs.

Firstly I think it is unfair to judge our business accordingly your experience with the tour operators.
You was booked with us and we have received and treated you the same way as all our guests.
You was frustrated because of our location, but after we offer you the alternative to transport you personally down town and show you around, which you declined. You have said that you do not like to walk but in the same breath that you like to experience the history of the town, now how on earth is it possible to explore buildings and museums without walking, so there you have lost me.
There was no way, and you admitted it to me, that I am able to fulfil your needs and expectations because you were angry and we was the closest and the easiest to take the brunt of your wrath.
It is up to Trip Advisor to leave this unfair review on my page or to take it off.

We were given a family room at short notice and very pleased. Met all our expectations, very friendly and useful managent, no issues at all. It is not on the beach but very convenient to everything we did. Room immaculate, non smoking and everything worked. Thanks

You will surely struggle to find a neater and friendlier guesthouse than Sea Breeze. The staff are very helpful, professional and Bennie and his family will make you feel right at home. The rooms are modern, clean and neat. Sea Breeze is located in a lovely neighbourhood that is nice and quiet. This is definetly a place where you can come to relax. Worth the money!
