We really enjoyed our stay at this place. The rooms came out really nice, the breakfast had an excellent variety and the staff was very friendly. On arrival and on departure they were very helpful with the luggage.

Room Tip: Important!!!! This is not a hotel for handicapped guest, as the breakfast room is on the first flo...

We stayed for 3 nights at the recently refurbished Swakopmund Sands. Located almost opposite the beach, you are a few moments stroll away from the Jetty & the Tug restaurants although a slightly longer walk into town. Having arrived from a Wilderness Camp in Damaraland the retro décor was a slight assault on the senses as was the open plan room including shower - handy but it meant opening the windows to avoid cloaking everything in steam! Having said that, the room was spotlessly clean, reception welcoming & helpful & the breakfasts varied & generous. We also finally worked out what the concrete fountains in the car parking area were for - local fisherman cleaning & selling their day's catch! Glad we stayed.

We stayed here for two nights on a small group tour. We were lucky to get a large, recently refurbished suite which was superb. Stanford, who was on reception, was amazing. He organised everything we wanted, restaurant bookings, taxis, drinks, etc., and always with a happy smile. The good breakfast was served in a bright airy room, a good way to start the day.

We were also very impressed by Swakopmund and what it had to offer -- historic buildings, good restaurants, shops and souvenirs, as well as its Atlantic beachfront and pier. Definitely worth a visit.

We stayed two nights at the Sands Hotel whilst on safari. The staff were pleasant and accommodating to our group who had a few difficult members. I was able to organise a pile of washing to be taken off and returned the next day prior to our hitting the road again. It is a well positioned hotel with secure parking also. Breakfast was limited but had everything we needed. Work was being done on some of the rooms in a refurbishment program but our room was very pleasant, large and airy. We decided to sit on the terrace reading one afternoon with a bottle of wine and the staff brought out glasses for us before we asked. They really tried to make our stay enjoyable. This hotel is a short walk into the town centre and a good spot to centre yourself if staying a few days. Out of the noise but close enough to get to everything.

Room Tip: Check your room is one of the newly refurbished rooms.

We were a group of seven staying in four different rooms - all of them newly done, some of them very nicely. The "superior" or "luxury" rooms have a very nice bathroom, but the disadvantage is that it is open plan and there is no chance of continuing to sleep when your partner needs to wash his/her hands. The quality of the refurbishment is good for now, but you can already tell today that e.g. the window frames will be disintegrating a few years down the line because of the steam coming from the showers in the open plan rooms.

That aside, our stay was very good. WLAN was working well, staff were very friendly and helpful also in organizing activities or making dinner reservations, the location is close to almost everything you'd want to see in Swakop. Definitely recommended.

New owners took over this small hotel about 12 months ago. It is gradually being re-vamped.
Do double check which room you are booked into! Whilst the hotel's new brochure highlights the fact that all rooms have been refurbished, thus is NOT the case. On the first night of a three night stay, we were given one of the older and tatty rooms, Room 5 was both damp and next to the noisy hotel laundry. We moved to an upstairs and re-vamped room, that was so much better.
The breakfast was ok and the staff were both helpful and friendly.....more than can be said for the stern owner! A limited bar service is offered and the hotel is well located for both the shops and seafront. OK hotel but nothing special.

Room Tip: Check your booking is for a re-decorated room with modern shower etc. Avoid Room 5 and ground floo...

This is now the Swakopmund Sands. We had a 2 night stay here, it is advertised as a boutique hotel.
We had the only room with a balcony facing the sea. Room was spacious with a huge bathroom, clean and nicely furnished. In winter but I can see that it could get hot and you are on a main road. Staff were excellent, helpful and accommodating. Breakfast average and limited.
We chose this due to location and price, parking secure.
