“Mod & comfortable with great beachfront location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 August 2014

Swakopmund Sands Hotel provided great comfort mid-way through my Namibian safari. It has a sleek, contemporary interior design & just about every convenience you could want. Best of all, it is just half a block from the beachfront. I could hear the waves crashing even though I didn't have windows on the seafront.

As for the room, it was very clean. There's a refrigerator with two free waters per day, hair dryer, wi-fi (in the room itself, though it could be slow), a safe, and heater. Many rooms have wall-mounted heaters, but mine had a very inconspicuous dial, beneath the desk, to control under-carpet heating. (Worked great, but you have to search for it!) There are plenty of outlets to charge your electronics, too. Note that they serve only breakfast here, but it is plentiful and varied. Service is great. I enjoyed chatting with the staff on the front desk. They arranged a very inexpensive and quick turnaround for my laundry.

We absolutely loved this location---its proximity to the beach and its short walk to the well-known Tug restaurant. The central shopping streets were also a short walk away. One caveat: you must be careful on their front steps. It is often foggy & wet in Swakopmund, and the hotel has a very slippery polished stone for their staircase. Our guide fell while carrying luggage.

We stayed here for 3 nights and really enjoyed it. The hotel is situated close to the beach and in walking distance of very good restaurants. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Good security and modern decorated rooms in a quiet area of town. Breakfast is a good spread of fruits, cereal, eggs, toast, cold meats, croissants, cheese, etc. we stayed in room no 4 which is lovely. It's just a bit of a trick to shower without getting everything wet in the bathroom since there is no shower door. Very modern but a bit unpractical. We enjoyed our stay and highly recommend it.

Room Tip: Rooms have underfloor heating which was great. We stayed in room no 4 and found everything neat, mod...

We were allocated the Royal Ruby Suite, which may have been the best room in the hotel. It has its own balcony, together with a 'secret' bathroom which you find at the behind a wardrobe door. The lighting in the bathroom was like something out of a film set - surreal. We had the use of a kitchen as well, if we had wanted it, as well as a good sized table.

A shame it was only two nights that we were here - we loved the breakfast, with excellent service. The staff were happy to fill up our flask with coffee for the long journey we had ahead.

Great location, a few minutes from the sea front and The Tug restaurant is five minutes walk away and safe enough to walk to and back at night.

Room Tip: Ask for The Ruby Suite. It's nice and quiet, at the back of the main hotel block and has its own...

Beautiful hotel on the beach front in Swakopmund, only 5 minutes walk to the tug restuarant and the Jetty 1905 restaurant.

Very friendly staff very welcoming when we arrived, room 5 is a great room as it has a wonderful balcony which you can see the view of the sea.

Very clean and tidy roon with nice crisp white linnen on the beds and fluffy slippers and a gown for when you got out the bath or shower.

King size bed was amazingly comfortable

The morning breakfast is to die for hot/cold breakfast its your choice

I would recommend this hotel to people visiting swakopmund

Room Tip: Near beach front and near all attractions pick either room 5 or room 7

My husband, 1.9 month old daughter had a lovely time. The stairs to the eating hall was a bit challenging with a toddler however breakfast was delicious. The staff were friendly. The beds are bit worn out and towels too. It's a beautiful hotel, and walking distance to the beach and central town. It was ideal for us. Thank you!

We held a 50 pax conference at the Swakopmund Sands Hotel in March 2014.
As a conference venue it was fantastic - the room, equipment and service were perfect - and the food (tea breaks and lunch) was the best we have ever had at a conference. Honestly ... a fabulous venue for a conference. Definitely recommended.
