“Good hotel”
Reviewed 30 May 2014 via mobile

I was there with some friends .
The hotel is at the right place , with great view to the bay and the flamingoes.
Rooms are clean and the room is nice.
I strongly recommend that hotel if you are around.

Recently I went to Walvis Bay on business and was delighted to be booked in to the Pelican Point Protea Hotel. The location of the hotel is very good being right on the shore of the Walvis Bay lagoon. The rooms are clean and neat and functional and served me sufficiently well for the purpose of my stay, however there were some niggles that could be improved upon such as the height of the shower head in the bathroom that was too low at my eye level (and I'm only of medium height at 5'10"). I also understand that nowadays most people have their own cell phone to use but due to an administrative issue with roaming mine was not working and so I tried to phone home (RSA) using the hotel phone in my room......it was locked and only after numerous attempts by the front desk and about 30minutes did they manage to unlock it. The hotel restaurant was okay and the food was mostly good but I ordered a rare to medium T-bone steak.....what was served was indeed a T bone but a thin one that certainly was medium.....but it was still tasty.

In general the stay was good.

This hotel situated on the lagoon gives you front row seats to watch amazing sunsets. Also located within walking distance to the Waterfront area which is a bustling restaurant scene with some of the best eating places in Walvis bay. It is also the starting point for daily cruises and very touristy. The hotel itself is your basic 3 star facility. Good wifi tho mostly closer to the reception area. Breakfast is also very basic spread. I would rather suggest you try the other closer restaurants for dinner, as the selection here is very limited but also not anything to rave about. That is evident in that its mostly empty during dinner time. The rooms are clean and well serviced and the staff are very obliging. Also no gym or swimming pool.

Room Tip: Only 2 floors to choose from, ground floor opens out onto the front lawn which has direct access fro...

We were a small group consisting of family members and friends that stayed there for one night with the primary aim to do a boat cruise. We stayed on the first floor with a view over the lagoon which is west and thus ideal for sunset viewing. We were booked for "double rooms" with the option of inner connecting doors that was welcomed by some members in our party. The rooms were very spacious and neat and they have small balcony with a view over the lagoon. The staff were very friendly and also assisted us with the booking for a boat cruise at no extra cost. The departure points for the boat cruises are within walking distance (5 minutes) from the hotel. The hotel has a spacious restaurant with one side also facing the lagoon. The car parking is unfortunately uncovered but the drop off at the entrance is covered.

Room Tip: It seemed as if all rooms are facing towards the lagoon, but I think those more towards the middle c...

Probably the best place to stay if you are in Walvis Bay.

Pleasant hotel with amazing views..... flamingos, pelicans...

Also has a great pathway for walks along the beach in the morning/afternoon. There are also a couple of good restaurants within walking distance.

Friendly reception staff and an awesome setting on the lagoon make this a great choice when staying in Walvis Bay - My wife and I enjoyed our stay as we had a top floor lagoon facing room. Beds were comfortable and the room clean and tidy complete with bar fridge and coffee station. The Bathroom has a shower and bath combination and the usual toiletries are provided. The view of the flamingoes and pelicans that walk past is just magical and especially at sundown.
Breakfast is included and is a superb buffet spread. Service was good and the waiters friendly.
It's very well situated allowing you to go on long walks around the lagoon and access nearby cafes and a coffee shop.

I got a room facing the lagoon and woke up to see the pink flamingos every morning. That was really beautiful. It was a pleasant and relaxing stay compared to most business hotels I stayed before. The baht tub was also very big and nice. The food was so-so but not bad. I went there to host a conference and the staff were very helpful and friendly. They were very professional and helped us with no hesitation with last minute request. Generally, I'd stay there again on my next business trip.
