“Amazing!”
Reviewed 4 May 2014

We planned dinner out with our Greek friend and he suggested Loukoumi! It was amazing. We had so much fun and it was so delicious. The staff was attentive and so friendly. We shared many appetizers, carafes of house wine and after dinner drinks. It was all amazing. We definitely want to go back. They were finishing the outdoor patio and we would want to dine there. It would also be a great venue for a party, wedding reception, engagement party, etc.

“... and thanks for all the fish!”
Reviewed 5 April 2014

We live in Manhattan and we discovered Loukoumi Taverna through a referral from our Greek painting contractor. I asked him what was the best Greek restaurant in Astoria and, without hesitation, he told us Loukoumi. In the time since then we've run into him here several times.

Loukoumi is a family restaurant run by a warm and wonderful family. Dad runs the kitchen, Mom runs the dining room, and their friendly outgoing son is everywhere making everyone specially welcome. The food is hearty delicious Greek fare, particularly featuring incredibly fresh fish simply grilled and filleted. For starters we love their Saganaki, a delicious cheese that's served fried and melty. The Horiatiki Salad is full of tomatoes, onions, feta, and cucumbers.

There's a wonderful starter that's layers of grilled eggplant, tomato, and cheese ... I don't remember the name, but it's completely delicious. Fried zucchini chips with a tasty potato and garlic sauce are to die for.

Somehow we're always bursting come dessert time, but we still manage to polish off some of their sweets. A particular treat is one of the the simplest, wonderful fresh yogurt with the sweetest honey. The traditional baklava is delectable as well.

“Astorian Elegance”
Reviewed 5 February 2014

I have eaten Greek all over Astoria while visiting friends, but Loukoumi has the best food and is also fancy enough for entertaining. Last time, I had a combination grilled meat plate and Greek spinach, all absolutely delicious.

“Excellent Greek Cuisine”
Reviewed 28 December 2013

My wife and I had the pleasure of eating here this afternoon. It has a nice welcoming feel with a super friendly wait staff. The place was fairly empty because we went there at 2:00 pm. The carafe of house red wine was excellent and affordable at $21, and was enough for about 4 glasses. The grilled octopus entree was delicious, as was the humus platter. I ordered the whole grilled red snapper which you can have deboned if you prefer. The fish was very fresh, tender and flavorful. My wife had the giant prawns, a bit pricey at $39 but we'll worth it. They served her three giant prawns the size of lobsters cooked to perfection. The entire meal was great and the service was good but not hurried. I recommend this place to anyone interested in Greek cuisine or seafood in general.

“Great fish great service!”
Reviewed 8 December 2013

We were party of 7 dining there last night after enjoying a great performance by Julia Patinella for Arba Sicula. The wait staffwas very friendly. Whenever we needed something they were there. The place is well decorated, a bit loud and packed but we did not mind. We all shared portions of grilled octopus, which was tender and delicious and a plate of their spreads and salad which was delicious. I had black bass which was cooked very well and prepared simply grilled the way it should be. I tried one of our party's grilled calamari which tasted good but was cooked a little too much. Everyone else was happy with their dish and we all agreedwe would return. Next week i go to Elia in Bay Ridge for the best Greek meal hopefully again!
