The reason to visit here is the view which is fantastic. The sunset amazing over the valley and mountains. There is a hot tub(warm) and pool (unheated ) taking advantage of this view. The hotel iis unlicensed but we saw people with their own drinks looking at the view. The temperature was cool and a jumper or fleece needed. The wifi worked in the lobby a and the room terrace but not in the rooms. Dinner is a buffet, adequate not gormet. Heating provided in rooms and dining room was provided and vital. There are ancient terraces in the village below the hotel which are with visiting.

I was very excited about a new option to stay in this area and I wasn't disappointed. Yes, reservations is difficult to deal with, but everything else is far superior to all other options within a 100 mile radius. It is a beautiful setting, great rooms, excellent quality of food, an unbeatable scenery, and I quite liked the small size.

We had initially booked the VIP suite, which is in the main building and has no balcony, we immediately asked for different rooms and were offered regular suites which were very nice and spacious. Water pressure is an issue as in most hotels outside Muscat, but that was about the only minor issue during our stay.

Room Tip: The balcony suites are nicer than the downstairs ones, the VIP suite doesn't have a balcony

Great location to stay at if you're visiting Jabal Akhdar, and doing the hikes/walks around it. Great views, comfortable rooms. Food is average. Hot tub could be hotter. Staff are friendly and helpful.

This hotel thinks it is very smart. It is certainly located in an interesting and unique area but the staff have no idea how to service the customer. All correspondence took weeks to elicit a response, everything had to be requested and was often referred to a local provider, and the website does not explain the relatively high prices. All in all, we were put off and did not visit.

We had planned to spend the day at Jabal Akhdar and then return back home to Dubai by evening, but since we reached Nizwa at night,we decided to stay there for the night;a friend from Nizwa suggested that we stay at SAHAB Hotel (hadn't heard about it before then) on Jabal Akhdar.
Its a very nice hotel, with excellent views of the mountains/canyon.We took a family room which had two bedrooms and a sitting area and two bathrooms;the rooms were large, the beds were large and comfy too;the breakfast in the morning was very good too.
Overall a very nice hotel but i found it quite expensive;OR220 for simply spending a night there was a bit too much for me...if i had known it was this expensive, then i would have simply stayed at a cheaper hotel somehwere in Nizwa and then made my way up the mountain in the morning.
But like i mentioned earlier,i was there only to spend a night,so i cannot really say much about the service etc.

It looks as though I'm just about the only reviewer who hasn't enjoyed my stay at the Sahab Hotel. I must preface my review by saying that we only stayed 1 night so probably didn't get a chance to enjoy all that the hotel has to offer. The drive up from Birkat al Mawz was quite long and windy and there wasn't much signage for the hotel so we weren't sure whether we were heading in the right direction (as the road split into 2 a few times). Finally we thought we were lost so stopped at the nearby Jebel Al Akhdar Hotel and asked for directions. Then when we got into town we were lost again so called up the hotel and they sent someone out to direct us, which was very nice. When we arrived we were checked in very quickly and didn't get to enjoy the welcome drink or dates described in the Information booklet in the room and then escorted down to our room. The hotel was fully booked so the staff were all pretty busy. We were also given a walking map showing some of the interesting walks around the place and there was always the offer that you could call the hotel if you got tired of walking and they would come and pick you up. The reason why I have rated our stay as average is mainly because of the room. We had only booked a Studio room but when we arrived it didn't seem like good value for money. It was very small (although still comfortable and clean) and we looked out onto the construction site where they are building more rooms for the hotel. It had also been a long and tiring drive up the mountain so we didn't arrive in a very good frame of mind either.
Nonetheless, the view from around the pool is absolutely stunning and if we had more time we would have liked to go on some of the walks. Dinner was buffet only so we opted to try our luck elsewhere.
Overall, I would not recommend the Sahab just for a quick overnight stay. Instead, make the journey up here when you have more time to allow enough time to go exploring and make the most of the views.

Room Tip: I would recommend upgrading from a Studio room as they don't look out over the amazing countrysi...

Lovely hotel in the most amazing location on the edge of the canyon (don't be put off by the approach road which suggests that the hotel is amidst a fairly ugly urban sprawl). Great rooms (although some don't enjoy the view) and the gardens and pool areas are really nicely done and are a great place to spend some lazy hours. We were there in January and the pool is unheated - be prepared for a shock (but there is a hot tub).

Staff are friendly and attentive and provide information (and free pick-ups) on nearby walks through villages. Food was good - buffet only in the evening which was a shame, but the quality and range was impressive.

There is currently a building site (presumably a large hotel extension) which might change the character of the place once it is complete as the pool gardens are somewhat overlooked. We weren't disturbed by building noise, but this might become an issue (the main build looks to be complete (Jan 2013), but there is a lot of landscapeing to do).
