“Very good”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 April 2014

A perfectly pleasant hotel in the Ruwi area of Muscat.

The bedrooms are nice and the swimming pool is great, likewise the free gym which is very well equipped.

The Indian restaurant was great, lovely service, and amazing food. The Japanese restaurant less so - not particularly authentic, more expensive, and slightly tasteless.

Breakfast was good (although a fight for a seat sometimes later on), and the receptionists were helpful.

Location is fine if you have a car, less so if not.

Overall - a pleasant stay in a nice hotel, but nothing exceptional.

I have stayed in a lot of hotels for business and pleasure. This is a Ronseal hotel (UK joke), it does what it says on the tin. It is clean, tidy, does nice food (I recommend the burger), has nice rooms and if you are after a good, mid range hotel is highly recommended.

We were there on a short break and it was good for us. Spookily my cousin arrived (unplanned) while we were there, on a business trip. It worked for both of us.

We were going to stay at one of the big chain hotels, but we decided to stay at the Al Falaj because it was nearer old Muscat. We were very happy with the price and the location. True there is nothing within walking distance, but it was mid 30s during the day so who walks anyway.

I would recommend the Armed Forces Museum.

Dear Sir

Thank you for your feedback and we appreciate the recommendation you have given to our clients. In regards to your reference about the location it may seems it is far away from most of the locations for a new comer In fact we are very close to most of the major attractions. It take a while to get to know the place then things are within easy reach.

One again thank you very much for taking time to write about us when things good.

We heard that taxis were necessary in Muscat, so decided against a hotel in the Al Kuwair / mutt rah etc. and came here. Really glad we did as taxis were not too bad from here, although probably would have cost us a lot from other districts. Also, taxi drivers all knew the hotel so saves having to try to explain when you don't have a clue. Just a shame not much to do in Ruwi itself in the evenings. Stayed 4 nights -saw Muscat and took a day trip too. Better rate when booked on hotel website in our case (of course check hotel booking websites too for comparison).

Staff were all friendly and we were given a late checkout free of charge. We also got to check in earlier when we arrived. Breakfast was very good - esp fresh waffles, think it was complimentary too? No one asked our room number on any day. Nice souk cafe with outdoor seating-was appreciated.

Our room was clean and quite spacious, everything seemed fine there. Nice firm mattress, maybe some more pillows could have been given (we didn't bother asking for any tho). Walk in shower only, no bathtub in our room on 6th floor. No noise issues in 4nts, so was pleased.

Its an average place to stay...not bad and nothing really exciting about it. Decent rooms + Average breakfast and OK location. Value for money as its not very expensive. I just stayed for a night . Though the hotel is like 500m away from the main street one needs to walk all the way down to explore some restaurants and get cheaper taxis. There is a cartel of taxi drivers at the hotel who charge very highly and needless to say that the reception helps the cause...All I can say is that its a decent place and OK if you are on a short stay. Though I must say the manager on duty allowed me a late check out for which I am thankful to the management.

Dear Gussets,

We highly appreciate you feed back and letting us know you experience with our services.

I am glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us .Yes the hotel is very competitively priced in comparison to all other four star Hotels in Town.

In regards your comments about the taxis. One may be able to get a cheaper taxi by standing outside the main road .The hotel taxis are registered with the hotel and all hotel taxi fare are uniformly priced and authorized by the local authority to all given destinations.

One again than you very much for your feed back

Thank you for choosing Al Falaj as your preferred place of stay while visiting Muscat,.

Kind Regards

There is nothing amazing about this hotel but as a base for exploring Muscat it is fine. The rooms are a little on the small size but clean and comfortable. Dinner is buffet style as with most of Oman, breakfasts were perfectly adequate. Staff ok, not overly friendly. I would recommend this hotel as a good place for a few days in the capital but its position would necessitate taking taxis to explore.

We stayed here for a few nights during our stay in Muscat.

The pluses for the stay included the Indian restaurant on site which had very good food, albeit at hotel pricing as well as a reasonable breakfast buffet with Middle Eastern, Indian and Western options.

The rooms were of average quality, maybe a little run down, but the beds were comfortable at least. The location is good for visiting the corniche and historic Muscat but you are basically in the middle of nowhere in a suburban street, so you need to plan for eating dinner elsewhere further away or on site at the hotel. The gym hours are not convenient for tourists (gym only opens at 8 am and closes at 9 pm, and also is closed on Friday). Staff are very helpful thoroughout the hotel.

Net, it is an ok hotel given its relative location in Muscat.
