We found this place via Lonely Planet and we called there in advance to reassure us about availability. Frank, the owner is a really nice guy who has his origins in Croatia. The rooms are simple and tidied up, they are very clean (probably the cleanest in our entire 5-week-stay in Panama and Costa Rica - really incredible value for little money!). There is no AC, but you would not need it anyway in the cool highlands of Boquete. If you want, there is a shared kitchen that you can use (we preffered going out and enjoying local reasonable-priced food). There are rooms with private and shared bathroom ($20/16) available. It was really nice talking to Frank, he always had an open ear for questions and our stories.
There is a parrot welcoming you (saying "Hola"), but take care - she might bite you, when you wanna touch her. :) The two dogs are not useful as watchdogs at all (one night we came home after dinner around 10 and they havent even moved their heads to see who was coming), they are a bit smelly but really friendly and always happy being pet.
We would definitely go there again every time and we really enjoyed this nice town up in the hills (apparently being back in Panama city now, we wished having stayed there longer and being back there again!)More
