“Best ever”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 December 2013

We were in a group of 6 so I think we got extra special treatment. The guides were professional and it was obvious safety was their main concern. We had a very clear orientation and safety demo and then were taken further up into the course by a truck and then a small walk to the first platform. The guides were clear that going upside down and/or letting go was not an option which we have seen at other operators. Rather then be disappointed by this we were encouraged that this only demonstrated their commitment to safety. Each line was described to us before we left the platform. The guides were hooked to us until we were hooked to the line, only then did they unhook.

We were asked to fill out a survey after we were finished and one of the questions asked was if the ground transportation back to town had been explained. Obviously this has been a problem. We answered "yes" because the booking agent in town had told us it was a three hour excursion and that the transport was about 30 to 45 minutes to get there. Unfortunately they didn't tell us when we finished at 11:45 that the return service to town did not leave until the next bus had arrived, they had their orientation and were taken up to the first platform. We waited and hour and fifteen minutes before heading back to town. Perhaps in high season they have multiple buses running and the wait is not as long. Both of the other parties in our group of 6 had booked afternoon activities based on the fact that they would be back by 1:00. Of course we answered the survey (comment card before the long wait). This minor issue aside we had a great time. The $10.50 DVD was an excellent value. Cameras are not recommended so they kind of have you where they want you if you want images. The last time we went in Mexico they wanted $40.00! I work in a tourist attraction and charge $25.00 for one photo, so this was a great deal.

Very well organised - felt safe & secure. Although was very scared as I'm not too good with heights!

Had a great time (even though it rained all day and we were soaked). The staff really helped with everything.

“Nice hotel shame about the staff”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 December 2013

I recently stayed at the Tree Trek and there were a number of good things about the hotel including the remote location, the beds and the food. A great disappointment, however, was the front of house staff who were simply dreadful.

You got the very distinct impression that guests were an inconvenience rather than the reason for the hotels being, indeed their business model (including their shuttle service to Boquette) appeared to cater more to the needs of staff than their guests.

The sullen staff put such a downer on the visit that I decided not to spend any more money at the hotel by undertaking on site tours or activities, instead opting for tour companies in Boquette. Serious client service training for the staff is required!
