I have eaten here on several occasions with friends and alone. Many people travel from David to partake of this Mexican food. They have a good selection of dishes, carne, pork, seafood and chicken. I particularlylike the chipolte chicken (spicy hot) Thankful for the tortilla to absort some of the spices. Good black beans and plently of tomatoes. My one comment to the waitress that they now serve a 7oz. bottle of Corona instead of the 12oz. bottle but still charge the same price. She did reduce the check by one dollar.

Mexican Food, yes, lot's of it but quality is not consistent. At times it is very good, at times a mistake. Service is always slow.

I had high hopes for La Casona since it looked nice on the outside and authentic on the inside. We also showed up a night the place was closed for a private party and everyone was very friendly when explaining the issue and invited us back.

We came back the next night and apparently the nice staff wasn't working and we got a guy who didn't seem to want to be there. It took forever to be waited on, even by Panama standards and even though we were the only people in the restaurant. Once he took our order the food was very slow arriving and came out at different times, which also is fairly standard in Panama. I'm not complaining, just writing a review.

The food was sort of like Mexican but very bland. Panamanian food normally isn't very spicy but I'd hoped that a Mexican restaurant would be more spicy than normal. One other thing was a very strange name they used for Nachos. One in our party ordered a dinner (can't remember the name) and asked what it was using Spanish. The waiter described something very different but out came some nachos smothered in some type of white cheese. They were ok but not what was expected for a main course.

If you want bland Mexican food and have a lot of time to sit and be ignored, then La Casona is fine. We expected and hoped for more.
