The Panamonte Inn & Spa was nothing short of delightful. Located in the cooler western highlands of Panama, the Inn is situated in the cloud forest area, blessed with a garden of beautiful flowers. The food was delicious (especially the "Panamonte Pancakes", for breakfast!) The staff was completely friendly, but somehow, worked their magic mostly sight unseen. Our room was spacious, very comfortable, graced with flowers, a private stone terrace outside, French products in the large bathroom. We awakened to the singing of birds...In a word, the Panamonte Inn & Spa is enchanting.

I don't usually get very excited by a hotel, but here goes.
Myself and family members went to Boquete on the spur of the moment. Called the hotel midway from David and said we'd stop and look. The first rooms we were shown were not so good, small in the old building, not awful but you'd really have to be into "quaint". ( why do they do that??). We asked what else was available and were shown lovely jr suite and garden rooms. Moved right in.

Hotel arranged a nice coffee tour. Lovely bar/restaurant area with fireplaces, great staff.

We took a family member back to Panama City and then immediately flew back to David and up toe Boquete and Panamonte.

I can't over state how much we enjoyed the tranquility, comfort, and helpful people at the Panamonte.

Only one suggestion: clarify the breakfast, changing what is included depending on weekday or weekend seems a bit pedestrian and not fitting of a hotel of this standard,

I just had the pleasure of going with friends on a trip to Panama, and we stayed for several days in the Panamonte Inn. We all fell in love with the surroundings, especially their amazing gardens. They have a great bar to have night-time cocktails in, where you can see the garden stratigically lit up. The food at the restaurant was excellent and not over priced at all for the amazing treat. The staff was friendly and very accessible, including management. When asking where to go in town, they were very helpful in offering information and guiding you to places that were a bit less "touristy"! It was a perfect ending to an already excellent trip. We saw this as the final portion of a busy trip, and got all of the rest and relaxation we wanted. It was very near "downtown" so we did not need a car, but secluded enough to not have a lot of noise. The transportation to the airport was great as well. Overall an absolutely excellent experience. If you go, run immediately to the bar and order "El Salto", their homemade specialty cocktail. It alone was worth the trip!!

Room Tip: Call and ask for the manager. She is very helpfu!

This is one of the few places I have stayed on my travels in Panama that actually capture old world Panama. I am so sick of staying at upscale places that feel and look the same all over the world. Here the architecture of the buildings were quaint and had the feel of the "real" thing. The dining room is tranquil and the food lovely. The bar, with its large, rustic fireplace is a wonderful place to spend the evening. The gardens are gorgeous too.
Like many older hotels, the Panamonte's rooms vary in quality so its important to be specific about what you want. That being said, if you get the right room, the hotel itself is quite beautiful. I agree with earlier comments that the Hotel is well-kept and nothing is too much trouble for the staff if you need something. I would definitely stay there again.

Absolutely run down hotel. Within the property of the Inn yo will find several buildings which are just circled by a fence and rotting down. The reception does not fulfill expectations at all during check-inn. Extremly slow procedure and during the waiting time you are not even offered something to drink as it would be usual in a luxury hotel. No fridge or minibar is provided in your room. Another guest travelling within our group was bitten by bugs during night too. (see previous comment on this hotel). At check-out, nobody asked whether you have been satisfied during your stay or not. This hotel has a nice garden and a nice bar. The spa is not on-site. The restaurant has severe problems with ventilation of the kitchen odours. You'll smell after fish and/or frying oil after having eaten your meal.Wifi will not work properly in any room. It is a mystery to me, how such a run-down place can be part of the association of "Small Luxury Hotels" especially after having seen the names of other member hotels. The English version of the hotel's flyers and guest informations are full of writing and grammatical mistakes - even thoug the co-owner and chef is english-spoken.

On March 18, 2001, Boquete, Panama experienced a widespread power outage that lasted for 6 hours. During this time, The Panamonte Inn & Spa was also without electricity, which meant that our kitchen ventilator fans and extractors were not working. We apologize for the inconvenience to guests for the cooking odors which they found objectionable. This power outage was also responsible for WiFi service interruption.

Full room and bar service is available to all guests from 7:00 AM to 10 PM. It is the Panamonte’s philosophy that personal service is preferable to refrigerators and mini-bars in the room.

All rooms at the hotel have screened windows and, where applicable, screened sliding doors, to prevent insects from coming into the rooms. The Panamonte regularly sprays the grounds to keep the cloud forest insects at bay (these are a form of gnat—not mosquitoes). If a guest leaves the glass doors open, without closing the screens, then insects will come into the room during the twilight and early dawn hours. Complimentary insect repellent is available upon request in the Lounge and at Reception if a guest is bothered by the gnats (which are seasonal).

The Panamonte Inn has been providing hospitality to international travelers for almost 100 years. Not every stay perfect, however. Some circumstances are beyond our control. However, if a guest is ever dissatisfied with service, food, or accommodation, all they have to do is speak with one of our staff and all possible steps will be taken to correct the situation. We are extremely sorry that these particular guests did not enjoy their stay with the Panamonte. We wish they had brought their concerns and dissatisfactions to us while they were here. That would have guaranteed that they left happy with their treatment and the hotel—as so many have done before.

Reserved a standard for 127$. When we showed up we noticed the run down reception which was odd they claimed to be a luxury hotel...
The room was a awful, small, old, next to the bar so very loud, we wanted to complain immediately, they showed us a terrace room which was a big difference, they gave it to us for 200, stayed 2 nights, not coming back the hotel is too run down...
Some good things beautiful gardens, but I got bitten by bugs while sleeping, which is still a mystery to me. Restaurant great, but what's up with the old lady serving in a dress with an apron, very unprofessional. The verdict, old run down hotel. They have great website but it's far from the real thing.
