Beautiful gardens & we loved the fireplace as it was very rainy when we were there. We stayed in a Garden Cabin which I booked because we wanted the outdoor sitting area but it was too rainy to enjoy. I was very surprised that breakfast was not included. We did eat dinner there & it was excellent.

This is a lovely hotel located just outside the charming town of Boquette. We stayed in the house across the road from the main property and it felt as if we were in the English countryside. We loved the old fashioned comforts and friendly, helpful staff. We ate in the excellent restaurant and also enjoyed the roaring log fire in the bar. The gardens are delightful and all in all we had a very pleasant stay. Make sure you do the zip line canopy tour which is fantastic fun!

While heading west on the Interamericana Carretera we decided to go up to Boquete to see what it was like. What a relief from the oppressive high heat at the Azuero Peninsula. We stopped in at the Panamonte to see if they had a room available. Very accomodating front desk gave us a nice quiet room at the "annex" across the street for $98 per night ( their rack rate). The hotel was lovely, the grounds were beautiful, the spa was very good as well. We each had a Massage and reiki therapy for an hour and 45 minutes ($99 each+ $5 tax and $7 tip). The hotel restaurant was very nice although you eat on 'Panama time' which is slow to say the least...but comfortable. The bar is incredible for Panama, it has two fireplaces with roaring log fires, which surprisingly enough came in handy because it was quite cool at night. We met other couples who enjoyed the hotel just as much.

  • Liked — The hotel bar. Comfort and proximity to Volcan Baru.
  • Disliked — Relaxed pace of restaurant food service.

I had booked a standard room for $95. When they showed us the room I was very upset. First, it fronted the street (noisy) and second it was so small our suitcases had no floor space! We asked for another room and they showed us one in the back of the garden which appeared quiet at first. But, with jalousey windows we could hear the TV next door, the man talking on his cell at 2:00 am and other noises. The room cost $162 and it was worth maybe $70. We checked out the next day. The only positive experience was their dinner restaurant. They have excellent food and service.

Our tour group stayed at The Panamonte for 2 nights in January 2008. The rooms were on the spartan side comparatively but spacious, clean and comfortable. A small bottle of champaigne was waiting for each of in our room on our arrival. The grounds have beautiful gardens and there are comfy chairs on the porches by all the rooms. The cool mountain air is refreshing after the heat of Panama City. All the staff was courteous. Meals in the restaurant were tasty. The bar /lounge area was a wonderful place to sip a glass of your favorite beverage next to a crackling fireplace. All in all a wonderful relaxing place to stay.

  • Liked — The gardens and clean fresh mountain air!
  • Disliked — Dining area a bit small.

We loved our stay at the Panamonte Hotel in Boquete, Panama. The room was clean, comfortable and tastefully appointed and the garden is lovely and a great place to sit a read a book. The restaurant is very good and prices are reasonable considering the quality. It was by far the best restaurant we experienced in Boquete. The bar is a cozy and charming place to have a drink and a conversation, or even dinner if you choose. It has a fireplace inside and another outside, perfect for the chilly Boquete evenings. The location of the hotel is a huge plus as it is situated a couple of minutes walking distance from the center of the town, making it unnecessary to rent a car. The staff was uniformly pleasant and seemed genuinely happy to help. We will surely return.

Very nice people and restaurant, but the rooms were sparse and a little worn, as compared to what you are used to in North America or Europe. While I highly recommend Boquete, this location would be 4th or 5th on my list after Valle Escondado resort, Los Estables, or the Coffee Estate. This is a little older, with considerate owners, but like I said, a little worn.
