“Lovely hotel in beautiful surroundings”
Reviewed 29 March 2010

We were warmly greeted upon arrival to the Panamonte Inn and escorted to our room by the bellman. The Terraza room was impeccable (part of the SLH group) and clean. The gardens are lovely and we sat outside our room enjoying the view. In the evening, there is a turn down service complete with chocolates on the pillow. The staff was very attentive, the bar cozy with burning fires and the location good within close walking distance of the town.

The gardens are beatiful, our room was clean and spacious and we slept very well. The restaurant is quite good, the best on our entire trip in Panama and the only one comparable to high-end standard in other countries. We paid $260 for a night including a very decent breakfest and only $55 for a three course meal for two including two glasses of wine. All in all a good deal and a great location for at least some taste of luxury in Panama.

We cannot express how the staff at the Panamonte'made' the Boquete part of our trip. The Inn is beautiful, comfortable with such understated elegance. The staff is friendly & gracious, unbelievably helpful(our car broke down upon our departure- they did not leave our side until it was repaired) and knowledgable. We will be back without a doubt! The restaurant is amazing. We had many meals there and not once were disappointed with any of the dishes! The service was excellent as well. I would recommend this inn & spa to couples, individuals, and definately those looking to celebrate a special occasion. Even if you don't stay here, do yourself a favor a have a dinner at the restaurant. They have a formal dining area or a informal area(we preferred) that has both an indoor fireplace and outdoor. It is just wonderful. They have room specials as well . The location is perfect as well . They have wifi. Super comfortable beds, showers etc.. We were suppose to stay one night it turned into three. We only left because we had to come home sometime... Thank you Panamonte!

Like many older hotels, Panamonte's rooms vary enormously even though most of them are priced the same. Don't just accept whatever crappy room they put you in at first. I would not pay for a room in advance, as that will eliminate your leverage to demand a better one. Also, their "twin" beds are only suitable for children--they are way too small for adults.

that being said, if you get the right room, the hotel itself is beautiful and well-kept.

We were very excited to have a romantic New Years Eve stay at the Panamonte based on word of mouth and after reading other reviews on Trip Advisor. My husband had called to make a reservation, and the receptionist booked us a standard room for $110/night. We showed up at the hotel and were immediately shown to our room-- across the street in a beat up cottage from the main hotel. The bellman opened up the door to a bleach stained comforter on two twin beds, rust/water leaks in the wall and very thin walls. We asked why we were not told that we would be given twin beds rather then a king, and no one could give us a coherent response. We immediately checked out and checked into Valle Escondido.

This said, we still kept our dinner and brunch reservations. The food was amazing in every possible way. it's probably the most expensive restaurant in Boquete, but well worth it. The bar is very cozy and fabulous-- we spent a few hours drinking red wine in front of the fireplace.

The rooms on the website do look beautiful and amazing, and I'm sure you could have a delightful experience at the hotel with the right room. The hotel grounds are wonderful and very relaxing, but be sure you check out your room before committing to staying at the Panamonte.

Service- Panamonte is a home away from home. The decor is homey, modern yet elegant. We arrived 2 hours early and were pleased to have our room ready. Our wake-up call came in when it was requested. The beautiful gardens are well maintained and a great asset to the hotel. I only have 2 minor complaints: 1. The morning we were leaving we were informed the hotel had forgotten to provide us with our complimentary bottle of champ. needless to say we never received it. 2. One bar tender was a bit rude, three times. We never understood why?

Restaurant-The dinner was excellent, although I can't say the same for breakfast. It was ordinary-nothing special. The bar is far better than the restaurant. More relaxed and much nicer scene/ambiance. Very reasonably priced.

Room-During the down season we paid 90.00 for the Terrasa room. This was one of the best hotel rooms I have ever stayed at. The room is spacious, the bed comfortable, ac great, bathroom spacious, decor just right.

Didn't stay here cause it is a bit out of my budget but I ate in the bar one night and it was fantastic. Great food and not too expensive. Ceviche was great. Best ambiance in Boquete!!
