In late June, my wife, two boys (17 & 15) and I spent 3 nights at Boquete Garden Inn. While the staff was friendly and the garden setting was nice, we had some issues.

First, the toilette in our room was "fragile". It backed-up twice, and the first back-up occurred in the evening after the hotel staff left the premises -- so we didn't have a plunger and consequently, we had to live with the flooded bathroom through the next morning.

Second, we were surprised that we had to pay for a simple egg breakfast (and they consistently over-cooked our sunny-side-up eggs). Likewise, at check-out we were surprised to find-out that they charged us for drinks at the 6 PM daily social hour -- without notifying us when we ordered those drinks.

But here is my biggest issue with our stay at the Garden Inn: at about 6:30 AM one morning, just as I started jogging up the road, I was attacked by dogs at the house adjacent to Georges Grill
(http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g298424-d3838763-Reviews-Fire_Side_Inn_Georges_Grill-Boquete_Chiriqui_Province.html).

The 4 dogs surrounded me, and one of them (not the black dog) bit me on my calf -- though the bite wasn't deep.

I screamed at the dogs, and they temporarily gave me space while I slowly walked farther up the road. When I was out-of-range of the first group of dogs, I realized that there were more aggressive, barking dogs coming towards me farther up the road -- so I had to turn around and again go past the dogs at Georges Grill.

To prepare for the dogs, I found a large tree branch and picked-up 3 oranges along the side of the road. As I walked by Georges Grill, I used the tree branch to defend myself from the dogs, and beamed them with the oranges. I missed the dogs, but they kept their distance.

The moral of the story is that you can't jog up the road when staying at the Boquete Garden Inn...

There are no dogs on the premises of Boquete Garden Inn. As in the rest of Latin America, there are hundreds of dogs roaming the streets of Boquete. This unfortunate incident could happen anywhere and has nothing to do with the hotel. This is Panama, a different culture, we do not have animal control services, dogs are mostly unleashed.

The hotel has no control over things outside of our operation i.e.: dogs, roosters, people, climate and toilets clogging (there are plungers in all rooms).

We are not an all-inclusive hotel, but do give a healthy complimentary breakfast and complimentary drink each night at the bar. We make guests aware of our amenities upon arrival. This information is also available on our website, in our correspondence, and in the in-room guide book. I personally checked the guests reservation card and we did not charge them for the extra drinks, due to the misunderstanding.

The guests came to us through a travel agency and were probably not aware that the other two larger hotels they stayed at were some of the most expensive hotels in Bocas and Panama City—close to triple our rate.

No matter where you stay, it is always highly recommended to rent a car in Boquete, you will not have the same experience otherwise

We stayed at the Boquete Garden Inn for five nights as a family of three in April 2013. This was our first trip to Panama. I found the Inn thru TripAdvisor and it was everything precious guests had revved about. Susan, one of the owners, was wonderful to work with, answering all of many many questions about the area and things to do.

The property itself is beautiful - spend a few minutes scrolling thru the many pictures posted and you will get a food feel for what awaits. Our room was clean and a decent size, the beds were comfortable and the location is very convenient. The inn is actually just outside of town so unless you are going to George's Grill which is next door, you do need a car to get to restaurants. The inn provides breakfast on their veranda every morning and it is a beautiful way to start the day. Breakfast is fruit, yogurt, granola, and a muffin or other fresh bread plus coffee. If you want to upgrade, you can purchase eggs or an omelet. At night, the inn provides a free happy hour in the gazebo at the back of the property in the gardens. All the guests mingle, talking about their days, exchanging tips on what they did, where they have been for dinner and where they are going. We met so many interesting, nice people and learned about some great things to do and places to eat this way. This was one of the nicest benefits of the property.

We loved the beauty of the property as well. It is truly a garden paradise! The abundance of flowers and brightly colored birds was so beautiful and relaxing. It really felt like a getaway. The staff treat you like family and try to so everything they can to make your stay special. It is a great group of people.

My one bit of advice: if you are staying for longer like we did (5 nights), it would be worth the extra fee to get one of the upper rooms. We had a lower room that was perfect for three of us, but we did hear the two or three sets of people above us checking out early in the mornings. You get so you can sleep pleasantly thru the birdsong starting early in the morning, but suitcases moving around and going down the stairs is harder to ignore!

Room Tip: Choose an upper room so you don't have the noise of neighbors checking out early in the am. Als...

We found this B&B in Boquete, Panama, after a friend who lived there recommended it. It is designed as a microcosm of the flora and bird fauna of the town, and if you don't mind walking on paths surrounded by beautiful flowers and covered with their petals, I recommend it highly. Their rooms are in separate cottages, all stucco that blends in with the surroundings - including the bohio bar. The continental style breakfast is unlimited and filling, and if you prefer menu items, you can easily gain a pound or two. The tropical birds feed from fresh fruit nearby, but a few like yogurt and bread also and may show up near you asking for some freebies. The service is outstanding. It is also economical compared to other major accommodations in Boquete, and is very near the town square. By the way, the "fitness center" consists of walking both the grounds and the trip up the hill to the nearby restaurant.

Room Tip: All of them are great.

If you want to experience the finest accommodations in the highlands of northern Panama, the Boquete Garden Inn is a must do! We traveled all over Panama during the two weeks we were there and found this garden gem to be one of the finest hotels we have ever experienced. Set in a beautiful tropical garden on the outskirts of Boquete, Panama, this jewel boasts luxuriously appointed rooms, abundant bird life, and a fabulous American breakfast that will have you coming back for more. the amenities, the setting, the price and the friendliness of the owner and staff combine to make this a truly memorable experience.

Room Tip: Ask for a second story room so you can enjoy the view from a bit higher up. Otherwise, all the rooms...

Everything good about this place is true. Very nice people, great rooms, great breakfast. Social hour is a brilliant idea and a very good way to get information first hand from other travelers.

The Garden Atmosphere is very tranquil.

Arrived (unfortunately) only for one night but we loved it! Great staff, social hour is also a very thoughtful idea as you meet other guests. The gardens are beautiful and so are the rooms.. Music played when Danny showed us to the rooms.. Hot water, crispy sheets and a comfortable bed! Definitely coming back here.. But not just for one night!

Room Tip: The 2nd floor rooms as they have separate buildings with rooms on first floor and rooms on 2nd floor...
