“Very Funky and Very Good”
Reviewed 22 June 2014

We both had fish dishes and enjoyed them. It was a unique experience with George and his girlfriend doing everything. A few other customers showed up while we were there (we are early eaters.)

“Awesome food”
Reviewed 22 June 2014

Only about 150 yards from the Boquette Garden Inn Georges' Grill was an awe inspiring discovery that was recommended by the staff at Boquette Garden Inn. A trained chef George surprised us with incredibly varied dishes that were inspired, flavorful and off the charts when it came to presentation. If we hadn't been sitting outside in a rustic A-Frame building I would have believed we were in a 5 star restaurant. We enjoyed lunch so much we went back for dinner. Do not miss a visit to Georges'!

“Eclectic and Delightful restaurant in Boquete”
Reviewed 4 June 2014

My husband and I had lunch at George's Grill/Fireside Inn just yesterday. The menu is quite eclectic and the food is absolutely wonderful. We had gazpacho to start that was delicious and for the main course, tuna with a lobster sauce, vegetables and uniquely prepared potatoes. George is friendly and aims to please. He and his wife are constantly working on revising the surroundings. He grows his own herbs and vegetables and he knows how to merge flavours together in subtle and interesting ways. The prices were quite reasonable given the quality of the food. I would highly recommend this restaurant. The food is exceptional.

“Surreal dining experience -- in a good way.”
Reviewed 31 May 2014

My first dinner here was an experience unlike any other. We were the only customers there (May -- off season). The restaurant is little more than a shack, roofed but otherwise open to the elements. Rough wooden tables, wooden benches and cheap plastic chairs, no decor except some faded leftover Christmas stuff. Tinny metal cutlery wrapped in a paper napkin. You don't get a menu. The bill of fare is chalked on a blackboard, and replete with misspellings ("lobster bisk"). The restaurant personnel consisted of George himself and two youngish indigenous women whose main duty appeared to be stoking the wood fire that serves as George's oven from a firewood pile alongside the building. George -- a burly outgoing Egyptian -- welcomed us, took our order himself and got to work. While the restaurant had been recommended, we really didn't know what to expect.

In very short order (well, we were the only customers) we were served a meal of extraordinarily high quality. The seared sesame-seed encrusted tuna was perfect. A generous portion, perfectly cooked and artistically presented. It looked and tasted like something that could have come from a multi-starred Michelin restaurant. The lobster and seafood pasta entrées were phenomenal too. The contrast between the premises themselves and the cuisine was stunning -- almost dreamlike. And the bill was preposterously low.

We went back the next night. Again, no other customers. And again, fantastic food -- filet mignon, Szechuan scallops and an encore of lobster. The stunning element of surprise had gone, of course. George -- a formally-trained and widely-traveled chef --was as genial as ever.

I suspect this place won't last for ever in its present form. Make sure you drop by before it's too late.

“Be prepared to have your taste buds scream in delight!”
Reviewed 27 May 2014

Georges' Grill is definitely one of the best kept secrets in Boquete. I would love to keep it that way, but then you would miss out on the multi-talented Chef that George is. Originally from Egypt, by way of Canada and other places, the menu reflects his travels. If you have a chance to try the Egyptian appetizer tray, do not miss it. While the appearance may be less than 5 star, the food more than makes up for that. Service may be a bit hectic if there are a lot of people for it is only George and his wife doing all the cooking, prep, order taking and serving. Ask questions and do not hesitate to ask for a change in sides or the way an entrée is prepared, George will do everything he can to accommodate your request. Be sure to save room for dessert, they are the only way to end the fine dining at Georges' Grill.
