We had a wonderful time at the Coffee Estate Inn. Barry and Jane were wonderful hosts. Beautiful views on a well maintained property surrounded by lovely gardens. If you stay you have to do Barry's coffee tour and have the date night dinner.

We enjoy smaller boutique type properties and sometimes they are not what you expect. This was everything we expected and more.

What can we say except that Barry and Jane were so sweet, welcoming, and have this B&B thing down to perfection. My husband and I've traveled extensively in the US and Central America and must say this was the best. My husband had much needed sleep and relaxation; we spent a lot of time just hanging out and taking in the scenery. The estate grounds are absolutely gorgeous and so peaceful; it was something else to see so many hummingbirds right out of our living room window! It is so peacefully quiet on the grounds...the daily sound of wind and birds is hypnotizing. Waking up to fresh coffee, fresh fruit and scones each morning spoiled me. We ate dinner twice in our bungalow; not only was it delicious but Barry and Jane made them such special and memorable times. The coffee tour was so interesting and fantastic! They're extensive knowledge of the area and culture is fascinating as is their life story.

The drive is a short distance from downtown, yes partially over a gravel road but that's part of the experience! It was a great reminder that we were far away from home and made for a lot of laughs. Everything is near by but far away enough to not hear cars, loud music, etc. The restaurants around town were fair to good, but I much preferred the meals in our bungalow. I can't say enough about Barry and Jane's cooking skills.

On a side note, I'm a freak for cleanliness when it comes to lodging...We've never seen such a clean place! Every single day it was immaculate. Extremely impressed.
We will be back, no doubt.

My wife and I stayed here with another couple for two nights in February. Over our travels the past 35 years we have preferred small inns, B&B's etc. The Coffee Estate Inn is one gem not to miss. Enjoy a glass of wine while sitting on the veranda and watching the sun set. Didn't think to bring wine...Jane or Barry has that covered. You don't really want to get back out after a day of touring...your hosts will cook your dinner. Are the sounds of crickets too much for you?...the earplugs are under the sink. Do you like fresh baked goods and fruit with your estate grown coffee at sunrise...yep, it's there. (Don't worry, your preferred way of brewing your coffee is available.) A little cool in the morning?...the bathroom floor will be heated! Forgot that book?...check out the extensive library. Maybe a movie?...check out the DVD's. Need directions for the the area?...maps with pictures for reference are provided. How about restaurant recommendations?...there's a list and directions for that. Security an issue?...use the in room safe. Wish you had some pictures of just the two of you? Upon your departure, Jane and Barry take wonderful pictures on their own camera and promptly email the pictures to you. Well, you now know what it takes to consistently receive those excellent reviews. It is rare to find people like Jane and Barry and the Eden they have sought to create for you. Go!

My husband and I recently returned from a 4 night stay at La Montana y el Valle Coffee Estate Inn. We loved it! The cottages are spacious and beautiful, the views are unbelievable, and the food was wonderful. We had yummy lasagna one night, Barry's home smoked salmon one night, and a romantic special duck dinner one night.

Barry and Jane are special people. They make guests feel like they are old friends, and go out of their way to ensure that you have a pampered stay. An example-we went hiking and my husband's pants got muddy. He put them on the deck to dry. When we got back after an outing the next day, they were washed, dried and folded. We didn't want to leave, and hope to go back sometime soon.

We had a great three week trip through Panama, visiting all kinds of different places throughout that beautiful country. But Boquette, and more specific, our stay at the Coffee Estate Inn topped it all.

Jane and Barry make you feel very welcome and nothing is too much to ask. Actually you don't have to ask for much, because everything is thought of and taken care of.

The view from the bungalow is exceptional, the surrounding grounds are beautiful and immaculately kept. Same goes for the facilities, with a very comfortable bed and great shower in the bathroom.

We stayed for 3 nights (you don't want to miss Barry's coffee tour and explanation which comes with a 3 night stay!), but we would have been happy to stay much longer. Highly recommended.

Thank you again Jane and Barry!

Room Tip: There are only three rooms, each is equally beautiful. We stayed at the top one, which gave us a gre...

We had a lovely and relaxing stay for the first half of our honeymoon. The grounds are BEAUTIFUL with sprawling gardens, fantastic bird watching and extreme privacy. The casitas are new, clean, and well built with plenty of foliage between to make you feel like you are the only ones there.
Jane and Barry were great hosts with lots of helpful local knowledge and ties to the community.
Last but not least, we woke up everyday and had French pressed organic coffee grown and roasted on the estate. Best I've ever tasted.
We highly recommend this private beauty and hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay with Jane and Barry at the Coffee Estate Inn over Christmas. Can't recommend it highly enough. The scenery is breathtaking and the facilities are immaculate, comfortable and in excellent taste. Barry and Jane are exceedingly gracious hosts. It felt like we were staying at the beautiful home of good friends that just happen to have moved to one of the most gorgeous parts of the world you'll have the good fortune to visit. Great book recommendations as well and a fantastic little library. Jane and Barry pointed us to "Tropical Nature" by Adam Forsyth and Ken Miyata and we got halfway through before we had to return the library copy before leaving (finished the rest as soon as we were back in NYC!). The book is a wonderful and highly entertaining introduction to the flora and fuana that will surround you in Boquete and elsewhere in Panama. Jane and Barry also recommended 1491 by Charles Mann, which was also a great steer and well worth reading before your trip. Sit back on your private porch at Coffee Estate, watch the tanagers and honey creepers feast, take a turn through a great book and then around the flowering grounds. Best vacation we have had in a very long while and we plan to head back. Note: renting a car is highly recommended. Driving in Panama is far far easier than we ever imagined and being able to strike out into the valleys around Boquete with excellent guidance from Jane and Barry will surely be a trip highlight.
