“Une touche de luxe”
Reviewed 12 September 2013

From waking up in the sound of birds, the cool breeze of the mountains and enjoy the scenery while sipping a cup of coffee is a unique experience at Finca Lerida, I had the opportunity to stay in one of the Junior Suites which to get the scent to fine wood and jacuzzi with the best and aromatic amenities a very nice and comfortable bed and vintage style accompanied with a chandalier that gives a touch of luxury among beautiful gardens and coffee plantations in the hotel. No doubt I had one of my best birthday, the hotel staff is very attentive and professional, but very simple people with great warmth throughout the service. The Restaurant of the Hotel which has a small garden with spices and aromatic plants that decorate the dishes that are served is something unique that is not seen often, healthy and organic food with a touch Gourtmet and presentation that even the best diners would like to try which provides Moniche's Restaurant. Just minutes away by car is the center of Boquete and many attractions. It is certainly a place for a nature escape with no stress and no one bother, something that I really liked is privacy for the guest and discretion that is something that is good for those who like privacy and tranquility. No doubt return to Finca Lerida for my vacation or for a weekend escape.

Room Tip: Warm clothes are good for during the night.

The property is gorgeous - they should offer botanical tours as the flora is bountiful. While we enjoyed our stay, there were things that could be improved.

The first room we were in was the epitome of a B&B, however, the shower wasn't working. We were moved to the next room over only to find that a light fixture was broken, dangling from the wall, there was no safe in the room, and no solid curtains on the back window. It felt like we were downgraded to a hostel room. We were also next door to a family with a baby who cried all night. We could hear it through the walls. We were also able to hear them snoring - the privacy was limited.

The restaurant had excellent food - best burger my husband has ever had. The trout had a face and bones - not what I had expected. The restaurant manager seems to lurk about in a mafia boss fashion without really speaking to customers, only getting on to the staff. His purpose was a bit unclear. Ask about the wines not on their wine list - we had a great recommendation for a special dinner. For breakfast - you HAVE to try the Banana Pancakes - unlike anything I've ever tasted. I wish I could get them here.

A young woman who worked at the front desk was extremely pleasant and spoke excellent English. Another in the cafe was incredibly sweet and let us practice our Spanish with her.

You must take the coffee tour! Rolando, the guide, was definitely the highlight of our stay at Finca Lerida. He not only knows his history but has a passion for what he does and where he is from. His English was excellent and the tour very fascinating. We felt like old friends in a matter of a few hours. Also, the coffee will knock your socks off. We brought some home and everyone comments that it's the best they've ever had.

We did not stay long enough for the bird watching tour, but would like to see things like horseback riding, Boquete city tours, botanical tours. It's a 10 minute taxi ride into town, so it would be nice to never have to leave the hotel.

All in all, it was the most beautiful hotel we have ever stayed at and it will hold a special place in our hearts. We would like to return one day.

Room Tip: If the shower works in Room 1 - get it - or a room with a fireplace (it gets chilly at night - esp...

I did not stay at Finca Lerida, only visited, but there was no apparent way just to rate La Finca Lerida as an attraction, so I am putting the review here. Having said that, I spent pretty much all day there, returning 3 times because I just loved the property. The main grounds of the hotel and coffee farm are gorgeous -- beautifully landscaped, beautiful vistas. The prettiest flower I've ever seen, like something a sweet little girl would have only dreamed exists, is planted here near the reception area (if I can, I'll add a picture later), and it has a lot of competition. The hiking trails are really good. Birds everywhere; old growth forests in parts. The waterfall trail takes you deep into the forest and is a moderately difficult trail. Fantastic coffee to close out the visit.

One note -- my Fodor's book said the hotel didn't take young children, so we didn't bother to even ask if we could stay there with our kids. Turns out that is wrong -- the hotel said kids are no problem and we saw several young children there, having a good time. I really enjoyed the Panamonte, but I think this would have been a great place to stay.

This facility is situated near Boquete high in the hills.
It is very comfortable and the hospitality is great, the staff friendly.
It has cottages that are self contained. Continental breakfasts are served and included.

It is really quite amazing and needs to be experienced to appreciate what is offered.

The tour with Rolando was 2nd to none. Friendly, informative and open for so many questions and ideas. Coffee at its best. The restaurant is top class. Hiking is also great in that area. Hope no one will ruin this place. It is so unique.

We just celebrated our 10 year anniversary at Finca Lerida & couldn't have picked a better place. Nice, cool weather, relaxing (the beds and pillows are amazingly comfortable!). The staff was extremely courteous and helpful in making our little second honeymoon a success.

The dinner we had was delicious and breakfast the following morning with me having the sunny side up eggs with thick & fluff hojaldras and my wife have the best tasting pancakes we have ever had (I had to "borrow" a few bites of course!).

Definitely will have to go back for the mountain tour and some of their great, home-grown coffee.

We have recently spent three lovely nights at Finca Lerida in Panama. This is a gem of a place. The staff is friendly and efficient, the rooms are large, clean and comfortable and the food is very good a fairly prices. The scenery and setting is beautiful and relaxing and this is an ideal place for long walks in to the woods (local jungle). We enjoyed our stay very much, learned about coffee, and had plenty of excellent coffee to drink. We will be back again

Room Tip: Consider good walking shoes for the area. Book a package, as it is better than taking individual it...
