“Riverside Inn boquete - A Slice of Heaven”
Reviewed 5 February 2010

My wife and I spent two nights at this wonderful, peaceful and truly lovely place. The location is a "slice of heaven", the service was not only friendly, but thoughtful and professional. We slept like babies with the only sound being the flowing stream outside our door. The breakfasts that Robert Cook and his staff prepared for us were pepared from locally baked breads and fresh fruits. Our only regret was not to have spent another night in this lovely hotel.

Our stay was only for one night. We were overwhelmed with the room, the view of the river, the quality of the furnishings, and the attention by Robert, the manager. When we came in for the evening, there were candles lit in our room, the robes and slippers laid out on the bed, and the honor bar in the common room was ready.

There is complimentary internet service, and the continental breakfast was delightful. We loved it.

The staff made this place.A leisurely continental breakfast on your schedule starts your day.Plan your activities with the multilingual staff and they schedule transport and guides. My wife and I reserved 2 days and stayed an extra.Boquete is a picturesque mountain town with a large native indian presence, great scenery and variety of excellect cuisine. The area's potential overdevelopment has been slowed to a trickle by the global economy which has helped keep it's character intact. The place to visit in Panama If you are into hiking the rainforest, birding, and eating.

When our small group arrived we were met in the diveway and personally shown the property by Robert the manager and taken to our very clean and spacious room with a view of the mountains. We Had some trips planned for the area and Robert made sure everthing went smoothly with the pick-ups and dropping us off right at the Inn.
The rooms were clean and new. The location is out of the way from the city of Boquete by about a 5 minute drive. Just what we were looking for all you could hear are birds and the wonderful stream that runs behind the Inn, it was very relaxing. I will reccomend this place to all of my friends who come to Boquete.

We loved the Riverside Inn. It used to be called the Palo Alto hotel but changed management after a terrible unusually high flood in Boquete that washed out bridges. The house has been renovated beautifully with modern appointments in a Bali chic style. We were alone over the New Year transition and it was like being in our own house. Robert, the manager, is personable, knowledgeable and very helpful. He loves his job and looks forward to the opening of the restaurant that will be part of the boutique hotel. We missed that but got a glimpse of the restaurant restauration. It will be beautiful! I am sure that the cuisine will be great too.

The house is located on the banks of a small river. There are views of the mountains and there is a nice deck. We stayed in the loft. There are two twin beds upstairs and one king bed downstairs. Closet space and the bathroom are quite nice. They have plenty of hot water and the faucet water is purified but we drank from the water provided by the hotel in a pitcher. Service was good. The room was very clean. There is a TV but we didn't watch it. We didn't spend much time in the room as we felt like we were in a house. Rather we sat in the porch area which is quite bright and lovely or in the living room.

Robert helped us make reservations for dinner at nice restaurants. We loved the Panamonte restaurant. We had our own driver for excursions but Robert can always call a taxi. He had many good recommendations for excursions and he knows a lot about Boquete.

You have to realize that Boquete is in a beautiful mountain valley that sometimes encounters electronic problems during heavy short rains. (The Internet connections at the hotel were temporarily affected due to the overall area outage) We found the mist to be part of the charm of the region and it did rain for short periods. It was also very windy and fairly cool at night.

Although the restaurant was not yet open, Robert served us a continental breakfast of fresh baked muffins or jelly filled empanadas, fresh area fruit and of course the most wonderful coffee in the world. There is also a full bar for those who wish to partake on an honor system basis.
